Any F1 fans in the house?

Anybody else breathing F1 around here?

The canadian grand prix has just ended a couple of minutes ago, and I'm jumping with joy cuz BMW just had it's first win since they entered F1 3 years ago. Even better, they got a double - places 1&2!

And the cherry on top comes from the fact the race was won by one of my favourite drivers, Robert Kubica - who got his career's first win in Montreal, one year after he had a horrific accident there - and probably one of the most spectacular crashes in F1 ever (you can easily find kubica's crash in montreal on youtube).

All in one GJ BMW, and GJ Kubica. Also WTG Hamilton, who rear raped Raikonen at the pit stop hihi (which is a big part of how this great result was achieved).

I watch F1 since Robert Kubica start driving there. He's better from race to race.
2nd place in Monaco and now 1st in Canada.Excellent driver.
Too bad BMW team had so many technical problems with a bolid in previous races.

F1 is second best only to motorcycle racing. I watch the turn left, go straight, turn left stuff too, but F1 is just more exciting.

I really miss living halfway between Spa and Neurnburg ring - If it wasn't for the fact that I'd have to get a TV - I'd probably still follow it. But TV and I don't get along... ;-(

And for you NASCAR fans.... LOL

OK but murray and papagmp but you don't have to watch it live, or on TV.

What I do sometimes is download the ITV Show from torrents; I believe ITV has the best F1 show out there - I don't know what's up with that, they but everything else looks different on that channel.

I believe they have their own crew filming the events cuz their transmission looks different then everybody's else. They have their cameras closer to the track and they zoom in more, the cars feel and look totally different, they give you that sensation of mad speed (you don't normally get how insane that is from a regular broadcast - you just see some cars marching along a track in wide-angle view). plus you can soooo hear the engines - that's another thing regular broadcasts suck at: they just turn the race sound down and the broadcasters talk shit all the way trough the race....

which brings me to another point: these ITV guys know wtf it is they're talking about, plus they have live interviews and what not.

I'm telling you: on ITV, F1 feels totally different. I'm considering getting a satellite antenna or something just so I can get this channel live.

if you guys need more details on how to get your hands on these shows lemme know

JohnnyR - big F1 fan here as well. Nice to see Robert K get his maiden win - wonder how Nick H felt about having to let him pass?

Down here we get the ITV feed, complete with the Idiot Boy (aka James Allen) jabbering away with his tongue firmly inserted up Hamilton's arse.

Hey Jeremy
Yeah man Kubica is such a great driver. I've heard Alonso said he's the best driver in F1 right now and while that surprised me a bit I thought about it and I'll be damned, it makes sense. He sure is the most constant one isn't he? He kept his head cool in every race and so far this year he did a helluva good job. A huge improvement since last year, makes u wonder what's gonna happen next year Another reason I love Kubica is cuz he's not afraid to publicly say that for him Rally trumps F1 at anytime, and if there's anything I like better then F1, that's gotta be rally - I find it more spectacular but F1 is more of a show so... but yeah, rally rocks So the guy clearly has a nice character and I think that's just as important as driving good.

I'm sure Nick wasn't to happy to let him by but what was he supposed to do? Make him loose time would've been silly, Robert is a faster driver then Heidfeld anyways (again, remember last year? H was the best of the two - amazing progress for robert K) and other then that Nick had just pitted, he had a tankfull of gas while K was way light, it wouldn't have made any sense to try and keep him behind. Not sure if it was a team directive or what, but I do believe K would've passed him either way! And another thing you know when alonso was right in heidfeld's ass (just before he crashed hihi) there was a team-radio intro on my transmission where I could hear bmw's race technician telling heidfeld to rather let alonso by rather then loose time keeping him behind.

Quite honestly, in today's team, I believe heidfeld no longer has a place in the BMW team. He just doesn't cope... he's not fast enough. And I'm not only talking in race conditions, but look at his qualifying times... In monaco he qualified 13 ON A FUCKING BMW when there was no excuse not to make top 10, while in canada he qualified 8th in the same car kubica allmost took to pole?? WTF man, that's not right. I want heidfeld gone and I want Alonso to take his place alongside Kubica! I don't particularly like Alonso (he's an ok driver, whatever) but I think he'll be great for the team: IMO he's knows how to prep and setup a car better then all the other guys out there (he was second only to schumacher maybe but he's history).

Which brings me to BMW... their win was now being due... I am a BMW fan in general and I've loved the team straight from their sucky start in F1. Well, not really sucky but nothing compared to when McLaren-Mercedes joined Man, they had such a great fucking car right from the start - I remember an image taken from a ferrari (I believe barichelo's car) it was speeding full throttle on a long straight line and all of a sudden both mclaren cars passed him by like he was doing 30 mph. I was like... WHOAAAAAA WTF just happened???

But I digress, I believe BMW is a force to be recon with and they're gonna get very good, very soon. Sure they're not as good as ferrari yet but ferrari has been in f1 straight from the start in 1950 and mclaren since when? 1960something. So in short 3 years BMW got right there along side these guys - Sure, ok, you're gonna say they've got the Sauber know-how, true but Sauber always sucked Aaaanyways, I believe in one or two more years BMW is gonna rule F1

Urm... now I'd better go get some work done before I waist more time
Would love to hear your toughts guys, other then "I like f1"

I prefer the British style stock car - more "real" and more exciting, and less bullshit rules (I once saw a driver win by continuing to race even though his engine was on fire, he crossed the line with flames pouring out of the radiator grill!).

You also get closer to the action, although that can be dangerous. If you stand at the front- and I always stand at the front - you are only about ten foot from the track with a flimsy waist high safety barrier designed only to stop idiot spectators from running onto the track, not to stop out of control drivers ploughing into the spectators. (if you stand at the front you gotta know how to react quickly and run backwards when necessary). In the case of the driver who continued racing when his engine was on fire, if it had blown as it passed me, I would probably be a little bit dead now.

Judging from the grid it looks like a straight forward and boring Kimi-Felipe 1-2 tomorrow. I really don't know what's happening in the McLaren camp, they have really turned to shit this season

Not quite, mate.
So far this season Hamilton's got 2 wins, raikkonen's got 2 wins, massa's got 2 wins... maibe if heikki would be any good he would be up there too...

mclaren is still good, but, like BMW, they've only got 1 driver. can't wait to see heidfeld gone, I hate him! he's shit!

Thanks but I am quite aware who has been on the podium this season, last season and for the last 40 or so seasons

And just like I predicted, a Ferrari 1-2. Magny-Cours is one of the worst tracks in the world for overtaking, even Nelson Piquet Jr was keeping people behind him.

The Ferraris will probably dominate at Silverstone as well, it will be interesting to see what happens in that team if Massa keeps finishing ahead of Raikonnen.

Not a hard prediction to make, considering. Bet you didn't predit Trulli coming on 3 tho A nice solid performance there for Toyota and I couldn't be happier then seeing other teams getting their stuff together and narrowing the gap with the top. Even if it means harder times for BMW RedBull seems to be going strong, and so does Toyota, and I'm glad for them and I'm glad for the sport.

Not sure what to say about piquet jr, we're gonna need a couple of more races anyways, IF he gets to go. True he was pretty weak so far but could the fear of failing keep hoding him back? Maybe once he's got nothing to loose he'll come around.

For some reason I never cared for Massa one way or the other. Never really cared for kimi either back when he first started. It was his series of missfortunes when he would start from the back of the grid and come up in top that made me notice him and follow him more closely. Nowdays, I like kimi although I don't much sympathize for Ferrari. It also seems to me like 80% of the people that like ferrari and aren't italians only like them cuz they win. That might not be true tho

Anyhow, I don't think Massa's got what it takes to bring kimi down. He's fast, no doubt, but he doesn't usually win unless he's on pole. He just doesn't look like much of a race driver to me. If Massa would go to any other team except ferrari he wouldn't do shit! The only reason he won yesterday was kimi's technical problems. No, definitely, kimi trumps massa at any time in my book, but Ferrari are pervs enough to prop him if he has a better chance to winning the championship.

okay Rookie has won the race, Toro Rosso boss called it a fluke, what do you say to that? do you agree to the style of driving by Hamilton yesterday? the way he pushed trulli to chicane...i have been hearing a lot of crticism over that by commentators. actually schumi used to do the same thing when he was at his prime

Hamilton is trying to be like his idol Senna, we all remember the era of Senna v Post. Being an Aussie and having Weber screwed but Mclaren drivers last couple rounds I tend to feel that Lewis is trying to do too much and it will cost him the title again.

But next round will be very different at night and under lights, will be interesting to see if they causes any driver mistakes.
