That's a shame if he has to look that hard to see it.

Well, off to court today, so my day's all but shot.

He then built his custom desk that has two keyboard drawers for his two computers, then shelves for his TV. We are NOT carpenters, lol but he did a great job. Take a look

Before - the window to nowhere
After- isn't this neat?

MadHatter says thanks for all the comments! We watch so many DYI shows, made me think of one of the shows. The shelves that the TV and players are on are left-over peices of our old kitchen countertop he cut the backsplash and lip off, then trimmed with 1x2 trim which is screwed on, counter sunk, then painted wooden plugs in each screw hole.

The desk I thought he was going to go insane on, lol. Started with plywood, trimed like the other shelves and left a small lip on top. He took a sheet of white shiny stuff, damn I can't remember the name of that, and inset it in the trim frame, so he has a really nice surface to work on.

He cannibilized two keyboard drawers from his old desks and he painted then faced them with more of that white shiny stuff, then used 2x4's to attach it to the desk.

Oh and he beat up all the trim and legs, then destressed painted it too. Mounted it all up and he is good to go.

We both have small offices, so it was great to build in the desk like that, and get more floor space. I'll be doing something similiar in my office, but I'm going to have pale lavander instead of tan.

I've had different DYI shows on while I'm working all day, and I need to STOP watching, I keep seeing projects I want to do and I don't have enough time.

LOL! Only if you want a rough-cut carpenter that doesn't deal with angles well, lol. He is great at tables and shelves. We are both getting better at drywall...although it was a job taping those inside corners where that window went.

He is also very good at distressing wood, and making things look old, and desert landscaping. We have a concrete "stone" walk to our front porch, and he made it look like flagstone. Everyone we have ever told can't believe it isn't real stones. Here is a good pic of the stones after they were painted on the left, and before on the right
MadHatter's cool flagstones

Salt and Pepper or Type II gravel. Those are "flagstones" cast out of concrete and were colored a peachy color that was flat and didn't look like stone...looked like painted concrete, lol.

I have an office with two windows, a closet, and a door on an angle. I'm going to build in a u shaped desk along 3 walls without closet, below the windows. Stay tuned for those pics, lol. It is amazing what you can do.
