Advertising on TheHun

If any of you have purchased ad spots on TheHun can you tell me how you made out and which package you purchased? I am interested in investing $500 but want to make sure I at least make a $400 profit advertising girlfriend revenge from Nasty Dollars.

Any comments from those who have done this is appreciated. My last gallery listing for this site went decent so hoping that a banner or text link showing all month will do even better. I asked PK about advertising but got no response and after getting over 100K hits from PK, I have made just one sale... so am looking at thehun.... unless you know a major site that can do me well for $500.

It is only worth it if you own the program. As an affiliate, you will not make your money back.

I advertised on the hun when I did own the program and lost money.
Maybe my banner sucked, and this was a few years back but I spent $900 for the ad and got around $650 back in sales. If I was an affiliate I would have only got $325.
It was the semi-golden age and I think it was the first time I lost money buying ad space. No recent experience with the hun though so if you try it I'd like to know how it works out for you.

In this market I'm not sure I'd recommend dropping huge amounts on ad spots. For $500 what do you get? I hope that's not just for the 1 gallery listing?

As an affiliate, no way. If you have something of your own to advertise, go for it.

I have to agree, as an affiliate I wouldn't drop that type of money on an ad spot on any site.

We bought a banner on "The Hun" for our live cam site.

We tracked it with an affiliate ID and it's till in the "red" as an affiliate. There's a few rebills but not much.

Advertising on most TGP's and such is only worth it if you have a way to take the traffic they bring in and filter it down to separate niches - then feed it to niche-appropriate sponsors. Same for The Hun, the only way I can actually get money made there is to make a very generic gallery, with little advertising, and a big fat money bar in the bottom with links to niche specific things. Those sites get a lot less of the big traffic, but the CTR and conversions are much much MUCH better.

Wow, thanks for the advice, you just saved me a lot of money. Any advice on places to advertise that I can make at least a 25% profit off affiliate ads or is this just a holy grail and I need to just work on the SEO aspect?

Buying adverts or traffic isn't always about making quick conversions. Think long term. Build a site worth bookmarking; direct some traffic to it and don't be disappointed if you don't make any trackable sales from the purchased traffic. That movement of traffic into your site should gain dividends in the future if you have people crawling back for more. If you do make a sale from purchased traffic then invest that money in more traffic.

Thanks guys I got rid of my blog and wrote a script that lets me import all galleries from NastyDollars and other affiliate programs and then copies the gallery to my server while making changes to the html code to give it custom meta tags and such. Google has started listing them so *fingers crossed*. Of course, most affiliate galleries that you can export have shit loads of typos and crap, so that bites. Within an hour my script installed over 12K galleries from the affiliates to my server... w00t.

As others have said .. unless you are pretty lucky you will lose money.. even many program owners lose money making the whole sale price.

Also let me add .. best to make sure your sponsors are happy with that. There is a good chance you may be done for content theft seeing as you aren't authorised to use their content on your domain. Would be a shame to be cut from a sponsor because you didn't check first that it was ok to rip their content from the fhg's.

Under your avatar it lists your location as "Boston". I'm assuming you mean Boston USA, if so I think you'll find this breaks federal law because you won't have copies of the model's proof of age forms. Someone from the US will have to confirm this as I am not 100% aú fait with American laws, but I think you will be in serious shit if you are caught, and as you just advertised on a web board that you do this, I am guessing that there is a good chance you will be caught!

I did good a year or so ago buying baner spots on bulldoglist for 100 a month and u ca change when you want to see what works not sure if they are still good but worth a try

I know when I used to buy spots on the hun I used to make sure that the spots was down the page listed around the 20th spot. It seemed to be more productive then when I bought them in the top 5. I figured that by the time they hit 20 galleries or so they had worked off the 'click the next link' need. The ratios from gallery to tour just made it barely worth it to spend the money but this was a while ago. I wouldn't buy spots there today

If he is talking about galleries which are listed on the tgp/mgp in his sig, then he shouldn't be ok? (the content is hotlinked from ND servers)

Different sponsors have different agreements with their content supplier, some will only be allowed to use it if the entire gallery is hosted from their server. Also some sponsors are bloody minded or stupid, and will object to this on principle, regardless of the fact that it does them a favour. And thirdly, if he is making a lot of money this way, some dishonest sponsors may use it as an excuse not to pay him. It is wise (probably imperative) that he gets an OK from the sponsors before doing this. I have no doubt that the majority will agree, but he need written or email conformation first, or he will loose out in the long run (i.e. not get paid, get blacklisted for "content theft" or possibly even for hotlinking without permission, his closing him down for same, and possibly criminal prosecution too).

Also - as he lives in the USA he needs a U.S.C. 2257 Compliance Statement, and without details from the sponsor he will not be able to supply this, which could also lead to criminal prosecution.

In short, what he is doing is a good idea, hopefully he is making good money out of it, but I am also hoping that he has read this thread (he has not been back to post since posting that he was doing this) and got a retrospective OK from the sponsors (and also sorted out the U.S.C. 2257 stuff).

Hm if i see correctly the images/graphics are also hotlinked, so no adult content is hosted on his part, then he still needs those documents?
