Experimenting with freesites

When building a freesite and then duplicating it to accomodate the amount of recip links used, I often get the urge to make a few changes here and there.

Say I have my little freesite with 12 recips, and a mirror of this freesite with another 12 recips, I'm getting the urge to make these two mirror sites different to each other. I'm talking about colours, text, structure etc but keeping the title of the site the same....although that's also an idea.....hmmmmm.

Would LinkLists prefer less identical copies of the same site floating around on other link lists?
If Joe surfer clicks on a link and sees the same site he saw 10 minutes ago he'll leave, but if it looks different he'll sniff around a bit.

Seeing as most of my sponsor hits come from the index and main pages it would be a good thing for me as I'd potentially be increasing the exposure of my ads.

On the down side would this be considered trying to trick the loyal LL surfers?

Maybe this is something that happens a lot already, I don't know. Maybe the idea needs to be stomped on quickly.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Sorry for the long post.
Hey, the radio show's just started! Cool. Late night company!

I used to shake things up between mirrors of the same free site. Though I left the color schemes and layouts the same, I'd target different keyphrases between mirrors by mixing up the text. The only downside I've ever heard to doing so is it does take longer to build sites that way.

Other than the time involved, I see nothing buy upsides to mixing things up between mirrors of the same site

It depends on how much effort you feel it's worth. I wouldn't go to far with it personally, but making moderate changes may be time well spent if you manage to get the mirrors listed on the SEs too. I can't see why a link list would care if you submitted modified mirrors to other lists, just as long as you weren't submitting multiple mirrors of the same site to a single list.

BTW, I've been meaning to contact you. You are one of my partner submitters, yet you only submit to one of my lists. The list you don't submit to has much more traffic. Shhh...don't tell anyone.

Thanks for the replies. Cool. I'll mix a bit at some point and see if it makes a difference.

UW, I received an email from you about that while I was submitting a couple of nights ago, and replied using the comments box on that night's submission to Filthy Earl.
I would have just mailed you back but I have some ISP port 25 blocking issues so sending mail from Pynio requires a bit of tweaking that I haven't got around to doing as yet.

I'll be adding Whoring Wives to my submit list quite soon, just got to sort out some directory structure things and grab some new recips, and update a load of Pornkings codes, and update my little hubs, and.......well you know how it is.

Ah, ok. Haven't seen the comments yet. Earl gets updated every few days (as you've probably noticed) whereas I try to clear Wive's queue every 24 hours.
