who can help with wordpress templates?

I am just starting to tinker with Wordpress and am having trouble setting up the template to do what i want.

To start, I am playing with the footer file. I added some link exchange banners and nav links to match the rest of the site but for some reason wordpress is adding lots of extra space between these elements. I am no php master so i just copy the code, paste it in an html editor ad my changes, resave as html, and presto. Fucked up pages.

This is for one of my mainstream sites. Once i get the hang of wordpress i have ideas for an adult blog.

PS. is there a way to add content, days in advance, that will automaticly update daily. perhaps through a cron job like you can with autogallerysql or will i need a custom php object added.

I can help with this question. When posting content all you have to do is change the date of the post to a future date in the advanced editing control. The post will remain invisible until the future date. There are some plugins that might make it easier too but don't know the names of those off my head.

Which theme are you using? If you could tell us that and post a URL maybe we could help you.

wahoo, made a little progress yesterday. The extra spacing was in the cell padding in CSS.

This is my first time dealing with CSS.

The theme is called Steam i belive. but will be altering it quite a bit. This blog is for my newly launched stock market site. www.themarkettimers.com

Like i said the adult(ish) one comes later. Move over Bad Girls Blog

Looks OK to me. You do know that you can edit CSS and see live changes in Firefox? It's a very helpful little extension that I couldn't manage without

Hi Stever. I've used bBlog before, but have switched to wordpress. For some reason I just couldn't wrap my head around those bBlog smarty templates and I found there was much more of a community and support for wordpress on the net, and in adult forums. If you are trying to make your own template for WP, there is an excellent little tutorial that hits all the basics quite well in a step by step format at http://www.techwench.com/05-2005/15-theme-cheat-sheet
That tutorial has helped me a lot with making word press themes. I hope that helps.

You need an extension called editcss. You'll find it under 'developer tools' at https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...cation=firefox

Interesting bcause it's the Smarty tags that have me sold on Bblog even though Word Press has a much larger community and is further developed.

Something about being able to design a page pretty much the same way I have for years and then putting in the Smarty tags where I want the blog relevant stuff appeals to me.

I've gotten so many e-mails on this in the last few days that I decided to learn more I sent the guy that wrote the program an email to make sure I understood everything, check it out he has 105 templates and 9 plugins he says he will add any plugin that was designed for wordpress, you just decide what you want and he takes care of it for as many blogs as you want and as often as you want and he updates your script when they make changes, It's got me thinking real hard about loading wordpress up. because it can't get any easier

Hey Steve I just looked at your site you do good work, remember https://chitika.com/
That's the best paying program right now according to 3 different boards, you just have to turn the conceptual advertising and the search box off to be google compliant. Their going to be adding affiliate overrides soon

Ok. the wordpress blog is here http://blog.themarkettimers.com

I managed to figure out the footer and adding my link exchange banners in there. Added my previous posts from the old html blog page. Managed to tweak the width of the post and sidebar columns.

So here are my questions.

1. How do i add the nav links from the main pages, ie. index page here www.themarkettimers.com. (navigation links on left)
2. how do i add google ads in there too.
3. Need to add an image in the header. (dont have an image ready yet though)
4. some of the images in my posts are not showing??? wtf
5. I want to get rid of "categories" but when i try to delete it in admin panel it tells me it is the default and has to stay (bullshit, get rid of it) i only need an archieve.
6. how do i center the page? (edit: i see it is centered in ie, but not in firefox)

TPat, yeah i remember chitka. What do you mean about being google compliant? what about their program is not. Sending you a pm.

P.S. nice display of northern lights here tonight.
