How long does it usually take to get listed?
I 'm not sure if this actually blongs in the 'Link Lists and Getting Listed' forum but it's definately a noob question.
I have submitted to a lot of link trades and lists but have only been listed by a couple of them. It's been 6-8 weeks for a lot of them and I haven't heard anything back, good or bad! Is this normal to take this long or do a lot of them just not respond and let you keep their link on your site for as long as possible without listing yours? Or do I just need to wait a little longer? Thanks!!

Ahhh ... sweet pity. Where would my love life be without it?

It really depends from LL to LL. Some (most of them) send you an email when you get approved. Some don't. Some send you email saying "You're rejected!". Sheepguy doesn't send emails but lists my free sites. It really depends from one LL to another but in 6-8 weeks you should be listed at most of them (some LL are a bit behind with their reviews, tho). Try talking to LL owners (send them PM or email) and ask them about your status.

Did you submitted trades aka hard link trades ? Trading hard links with other webmasters takes more than just a submitting. If you used trading script like LinkEX then don't worry about anything and you may pull their links off as they probably don't have time to manage their sites and/or reply for your request. If you talked with webmasters before trading hard links contact them and just ask them what's taking so long. |

What else is involved with hard link trades and how do you force hits to them? Auto-redirects or something like that?

Hollowhorn you want to trade with your niche sites.
Try to avoid automatic trade scripts as they are very often abused by spammers and them site that is using this script lowers in se rankings. Spend more time on the board , learn from the others, get to know us and let us to know you better. I try to treat my trades with others very personal and on friendly basis. |

Cindy, welcome to GG&J.
Personally, I think some of the webmasters are no longer actively exchanging links and others are hoping that you forget about the link, leaving it up indefinitely and never reciprocating with a link back to you. Change of topic. What's the point of a warning page if you have hardcore images (animated fucking and genitalia) on it? Please help keep minors off your adult site by voluntarily labeling it. From my last submissions:
Last week, free site: greenguy, 12 hours, Smutgremlins 1 day, hoes.com 3 days, pemisbot 3 days, still waiting on wetplace and sleeks. I've heard sleek is behind, and wetplace is usually a little slower than the rest. Last week, TGPs: portal-to-porn, immediate, PK two days. Thumbnail post no word yet. The hun will make you wait a month at least. Regarding trading scripts, those are almost always CJs (circle jerks). There is a lot of cheating in that realm (because its tit for tat, and there are ways of faking the tat part) so if you arent really experienced and dealing with people you know, you should steer clear of them. The cheaters are very sophisticated and are better at it than you can imagine. If you want to do a CJ, do several of your own and feed them with traffic from your more legit sites. CJ traffic is like the dregs of traffic and the idea is to jerk the surfer around until he gets tired and finally buys something. Never send your best traffic (aka search engine traffic) to a CJ unless it is your own.

Most large LL's will usually list you anywhere from 1 day to a week and will send you an email.
With smaller sites it could be anywhere from 2 days to several weeks or possibly never. ___________ Clean Sites NS Cash |

Hollow are you referring to submitted sites or trade requests made to the Link Lists? Because they are two very different things but are mentioned in your initial post and I think its throwing off answers.

I was kinda talking about both. I understand how the submitted sites work and that was my original question about length of time to get listed. But I had also made trade requests and am unsure of how it works and how to 'force hits to get it started'. How do you force 50 hits a day to the other site (like some ask for) if you're not even getting 50 yourself? It sounds like they are a lot of spam and not worth it. That seems to be the general consensus here??

If you have to ask that, you arent savy enough to deal with that part of the business. You can force hits any way you want. Put up a big link that says "free porn here", open the site in a console, set up a bot to do it for you through proxies, hire a russian with 1000 zombie PCs to hit the site, open it in a tiny i-frame on you main page, spam BBSs with your link code, etc.
All but the first suggestion is hardcore cheating (and the first a blind link which is sort of sucky), but thats usually the way trade scripts work and thats what you'll get in return. Seriously, stick with free sites and TGPs. Submit to directories when users here ask for submissions. Make friends here to trade front page links with. Remember, nothing is free, except maybe those 50 free hits you send the other guys trade script.

Hollow to start grabbing traffic for yourself. Id build some free sites and make sure to add a link to your site from it. Start getting some traffic before you look to give away the precious little you have. Once that can happen on a regular basis, try and do 'hard link' trades with sites in your same situation (rather new with smaller amounts of traffic). In reality you don't have enough traffic to warrant a traffic trade where you have to force hits.

The link trade kinda sound like a bunch of crap. Why would you want a bunch of hits from bots and the such? Thanks for the advice!!!!!!!!!!

You don't. That's why Nate said that those types of forced hits are considered cheating. It's worthless traffic.
