Private Domain Registration Policies

I have been earning a living using adult websites since 2001. I have been discussing the idea of building a freesite submission project with some of the sponsors I have been with for a few years and they believe it is a good idea to branch out and explore new areas of traffic.

I have been reading this board for the past few days and I am a little concerned about the 'No Private Registration' policies that I have been reading about. Most of my domains are registered through godaddy.com and I have been using domains by proxy listings for years. I live in a small town and I do not wish my family to be subjected to the type of criticisms that go along with small town life by listing my information publically.

Will using a domains by proxy whois listing prevent me from succesfully launching a freesite submission campaign? Is this the rule, rather than the exception?

I am most interested in opinions and advice on this matter.

Regards,

Midnight

As you already know most places, including mine, don't allow it.

About 2 weeks after registering a domain with the words "chan" and "sluts" in it, I started getting really weird calls with no referring phone numbers. Probably skype. I blocked them all, so now, no referring number, no ringy.

I'm of the belief that pranksters from the internet hate machine thought they were going to fuck with my mind. Before I blocked them I'd set the phone down next to a speaker and fire up apocolypse now in VLC. Naturally this was all on speaker phone, and one of the drunk chicks called me every name in the book fpr a solid 10 minutes. Too bad she didnt know I already knew I was all the things she called me and a lot worse. Another one was a long string of arnold shwartzeneger movie quotes. Hilarity at it's finest, but answering the phone just to play with the kids got annoying after a while.

I appreciate the responses. My intent is to remove that particular domain from the domains by proxy listing and just set up a business address to use for the account.

I truly hate the thought of my public information being available for anyone in the world to see, though I can understand the need for such disclosure to recipient websites.

Midnight

I've been doing this since early '02 with open and honest WHOIS. I've NEVER received a phone call, not even an email, from anyone looking for trouble. I've received calls from SEO morons, but that's about it.

I've been doing this since the nineties and have yet to get anything worse than a sponsor calling me trying to get me to send them traffic.

I've gotten those too. Paying someone to do that stuff sort of defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Anyone sponsor contacting me by phone without prior consent is just sending me a message not to promote them. I have a pay per minute cellphone that I use for my domain registration and sponsors. If I remember to turn it on they might get lucky enough to piss me off and forget that they exist.

Again, I sincerely appreciate the responses. I have been doing adult since 2001 and have yet to have any problems but again, I have always used domains by proxy. I have set aside a domain to use on this freesite/linklist submission project and will be starting from zero traffic and run for thirty days. If you think there is any interest, I will be happy to post my results here on a daily basis.

I have removed the domains by proxy from one of my earlier acquired domains that has been sitting dormant for at least two years. I first registered it in 2002. My whois information is now public and my intent is to build at least ten freesites on this domain before I begin any submissions. My intent is to do this by hand, choosing 20-30 link lists that are highly ranked according to this board. I understand that many people use submission software but I have never really been a fan of the genre.

I look forward to this project and hope to make some new friends while touching base with some old friends that I may have lost touch with over the last few years.

Regards,

Midnight

If you build 10 fs before submitting and on each of them you make the same mistakes then this will be a waste of time. You write that you never build them.

Build one , post here and be sure that many webmasters ( link owners ) will give you a few good tips what should be fixed / corrected.
After three or four submitted fs you know better what you doing.

Thank you for reminding me of the potential I have for personal fallability. I have posted this request for peer review on my first freesite and appreciate the advice. Here is the post for my first peer review request.

Personally I don't really care about domains by proxy or privacy guarded domains. I stopped caring the day a LL owner went apeshit on me for having one, and while doing a little whois digging of my own noticed his LL was on a privacy domain as well.

I've got my own whois info in most of my domains though, on the other hand, I still fail to see the rationale behind the "no privacy domains" rule.

Since now submitters need to send me an ePassporte wire I'm not sure if it still makes sense for me to care anymore.

sure i use privacy domains, but not on the domains i used to submit for free sites, what i do in person with some domains is my thing, i dont have to explain to any one, but the time i submitted free sites or tgps, where all a open book and still are a open book. i dont use privacy domains to do bad things, but i have the right to use that, so who cares...... only dont nag if you use private domains if you submit them to linksites or whatever, then the linksites or tgp webmasters and sponsors (only if yo use their paysites and their have a fucking reason to ask) have a right to asked and to inform, well thats my point of view.

@Cleo: true but I was going more for the original idea of limiting the usage of privacy domains.

... I was going to post something here but I decided not to since it'll just piss a lot of people off anyway. Might as well put it on my rant and rave blog so.. if you know where it's at, you'll read it anyway

The problem is so many cheaters...intentional and even sometimes unintentional

Even of the link lists that will not accept private whois...many of those will once they trust you (paid accounts, partner accounts, trusted submitter accounts, just plain getting to know you etc)
Most rules are not set in stone once people know each other

In most ways the internet is anonymous, and anonymity breeds cheating like wildfire. So definite hard fast rules must be set, at least in the beginning.

Heck if my acceptance emails from my link lists bounce as phony…that email is banned. If a submitter cannot be trusted to enter a valid email contact he/she cannot be trusted to submit to me

the reason why i wanted to review 6 years ago was.......how others cheat...you will learn from that, i wanted to find out how others tried to cheat..what code did they use, what words, what other stuff, you learn so much from that and hell did i learned from that, and sure i am not have always the same reason like others here to blacklist a person...but its still the same person i didnt trust, oke admit, i have a totally different view to not trust a person, but that i have got with my experience as a reviewing person...i reviewed for a lot of different sites, big ones and small ones, but hell you will learn to know your submitters
