Hiya Kinky ... yeah, I started watching some of the UFC matches recently. I don't like the reality show that's affiliated with it, but there are some skilled fighters in the actual octagon fights.
The early octagon days were pretty boring with all the meaty mooks pounding each other, so I lost interest. But once the Muay Thai/Boran and Gracie/BJJ fighters started showing up things have gotten more interesting. I really hope GSP versus Hughes rematch will be a better fight this time.

i'm hoping for a good night of fights, that TUF finale was horrible to watch with the not so great fights and 40 minutes of commercials every hour

I'm a massive fan of the UFC. I can't get enough of it. Trouble is, over here we don't get the fights until a day or two later so please....NO SPOILERS for UFC 65 unless they're clearly marked!
Sunday night at 10PM GMT is when we get to watch UFC 65. I have to avoid all sorts of websites waiting for our showing. I think Matt Hughes is going to get beat this time. I have a feeling that GSP will knock him out early in the second round. I'm also hoping that Jeff Monson is going to upset the odds and take out heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia. First round submission win for Monson. The Ultimate Fighter is a fix of UFC between the "proper" UFC fights, so I enjoy that too. Last season's light heavyweight winner, Mike Bisping is a serious threat to the current UFC light heavyweights. Bisping is a relentless monster with great skills and the fitness level to match. I can't wait until he gets his visa problem sorted so he can start his real octagon career. |

I want Monson to win just so Sylvia has to stop wearing his big ass champ belt EVERYWHERE he goes it looks pretty tacky IMO and yes Bisping is a machine! I can't wait to see him fight again damn the UFC 66 fight card is pretty good too http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=even...htCard&eid=326

But you can't deny Matt Hughes just dominates right now. Regardless of whether or not he's a dick he's taking on every contender and absolutely killing them -- like an early Tyson. I don't see him getting KO'd, maybe a submission. Should be a good fight, I decided to skip this one. At $40 a pop I pick and choose which ones I really want to see. |

Well....
I watched, I wondered, & I wet my pants! Some great fights...and some awful ones too. All in all it was a fantastic night of fighting in my opinion. Am I allowed to comment on the specifics, or will I be spoiling it for others? I don't know, so I'll wait. |

I missed seeing it live, and I'm not a big enough fan to pay to watch it on ppv when I already know who won the big fights. So as far as I'm concerned, anyone can feel free to talk about it all they want. I probably won't see the fights now until they're on dvd or Spike, unless something someone talks about here inspires me to ppv anyway.
I did hear that the top two bouts were pretty damn good ones.

DANGER - SPOILER FOLLOWS - DANGER
The wife and I are HUGE GSP fans. We vastly prefer the stand-up guys anyway, but GSP stands out as being a highly dynamic and entertaining (and very likable) fighter. (Honestly, most ground guys are boring as all hell to watch. Gay porn is less gay.) The GSP/Hughes fight had us literally jumping up and down on the couch. (I even got laid after the fight, she was so excited) By far the best fight I've seen in a long time. That bastard farmboy never had a chance. |

While I can appreciate the ground & pound style I'm not a fan. I prefer to watch the likes of Chuck & GSP over fighters like Tito & Matt Hughes every time. Sure, it's very skillful and technical but there's something more honest about beating the shit out of someone with fists and feet. Now the other big fight, Monson & Sylvia was tedius. I think big Tim is so afraid of losing that he comes to defend rather than attack. He showed some good skills but Brandon Vera will dance around him & pick him apart when they meet up. Great night of fighting, best in a while. |

anybody that didnt get the PPV you can get DVDs off Ebay of the fights for $10 or so but the listings will probably be gone pretty soon... not that I would know but the quality is usually great too
there were some wierd turns (IE the guy falling down and quitting? it's the octagon you bitch get up and fight! or the cheap shot that Militech fighter tried to unload during the fist bump to start the fight, thankfully the asshole lost) in the fight card but it was worth it just for the title fights... the heavyweight fight was a sleeper until Monson got him down with good position, Sylvia showed that he isn't as bad on the ground as the Arlovsky heel hook made it out to be... the GSP fight was just like I expected, complete domination from start to KNOCKOUT! ok TKO but still a knockout.... Preacher... ... I think he might hold the title longer than Hughes did, who is gonna touch that kid right now? Matt Serra? LOL the TUF champ is gonna get chumped early next year UFC 66 Dec. 30 is gonna be another great night of fights, potentially the best card of the year... did you all hear? Chuck vs. Tito 2 with hopefully no eye pokes and BISPING IS GONNA BE THERE KICKIN' SOME ASS! Let's Get It On!

Yep Kinky, agreed about the Sylvia/Monson slowness until Monson took him down.
But then I had to feel sorry for Monson because his diddy little arms weren't long enough to reach Sylvia's face but Sylvia was still able to land some nice punches while on the bottom with those loooooong arms of his. I'd like to see a super-heavyweight division at some point in the future, as Sylvia/Monson was a good example of a size mis-match, although I used to enjoy it when Mike Tyson destroyed huge boxers a few years ago and Tyson is a small heavyweight. I think that if BJ Penn gets his fitness sorted out he's about the only current Welterweight able to pose a threat to GSP, but he'll have to catch GSP making a mistake to beat him. Other than that I see nobody able to take GSP's title for a long time. Matt Serra is usually great to watch but lacks the skills to come close to GSP. GSP is one of the best all-round fighters I've ever seen - he's the complete package. I'm a big Chuck fan, he was the first UFC fighter I ever saw fight, but I'm concerned that he'll gas and get pounded if he can't knock Tito out within two/three rounds. However, it's hard NOT to imagine Chuck landing a good shot at some point early on, and with his dynamite hands Tito will fall again. Great fight card for December 30th so far. I'm concerned that Forrest Griffin will slip up with Keith Jardine, and I'm looking forward to Andrei Arlovski climbing back up to his awesome best. Will Bisping really be there? |

yeah Gary they announced Bisping during the PPV but it was hard to catch, they only said it once, I gotta watch the Tivo to see if they announced who he is fighting
and BJ is going back down to his real weight of 155 where I think he will once again be champ, he only fought Hughes that first time becasue they need a fill, he was supposed to lose badly in their first fight but Hughes didnt really train for his fights back then, a Penn-GSP re-match probably won't happen anytime soon, and GSP would rock his ass as long as he didn't get poked in the eye early in the first round I used to dislike Tito and his bad boy image but after seeing what he did for those kids as a coach on the TUF show i got mad respect for him, I am hoping he can beat Chuck so we get a rubber match 3rd fight, I love The Iceman too but if he loses to Tito then that re-match is gonna be the fight of a lifetime! BTW the next Spike Fight Night Live )Dec. 13 I think) is featuring Diego Sanchez-Joe Riggs... that to me is a really good matchup, Riggs is a local boy from here in Phoenix so I like to root for him but he is gonna have his hands full with The Nightmare... I'm waiting for the GSP-Diego matchup so that somebody can finally knock the jesus outta Sanchez

In the UK we don't get to watch UFC66 until the evening of the 1st January - two whole days later!
Sure, it's free, but I'd rather have the choice to pay and watch it live. I'm looking for a spectacular Chuck win by knockout late in the second round, or possibly early in the third. Other fights: Griffin knocks out Jardine in the third. Arlovski drops Cruz very quickly - within two minutes. Chris Leben gets whooped by MacDonald in the third. Bisping destroys everything that's in front of him - fast, including Eric Schafer. I just wish I didn't have to wait to enjoy it. |

all I am gonna say is crying (edit:crying like a little bitch) inside the octagon after losing should be an instant ban from fighting in the UFC

I didn't get see this one. Who cried [like a bitch]? I've already been to ufc.com, so I know who won. But I really need to know who cried. (I'm betting it was Leben.)
