Happy Midsummer Eve Friday!

I figured I'd get one in since all of you are sleeping

Today is one of the biggest holidays in Sweden, Midsummer Eve. Only one bigger is probably Christmas Eve. What it's most known for is Herring, eggs, snaps and making babies
I've been up for couple of hours baking bread and heading to a party in hour and a half. See ya'll on the other side of the haze

Not all of us are sleeping.
Some of us are awake and desperately praying for other people to be awake, too!

Happy Midsummer's Eve, swedguy!

My celebration of Midsummer, called Litha, was on Tuesday.

Hey, Morgan, I was thinking the same thing!

I've never heard of Midsummer celebrations, but I'm all for any holiday that has a man baking bread! Enjoy the party, Swedguy! Sounds like great fun.

!

Hey, madleinx!

For reasons that I can't explain, "midsummer," or Litha in my case, occurs on the first day of summer. Now, why they put the middle first is beyond me, but since this whole thing has been going on for millennia, there's no longer anyone around to ask.

I have to admit, I'd also get behind a holiday that has a man baking bread...or anything else for that matter!

(I'd like to request that all male bakers reading this board please not take offense. )

good morning all, this is going to be tough day for me: got so many things to do; also things like going to make the groceries and so.

hope I'll be able to get everything done

have all a nice weekend, hope it will cool down a bit as it's too hot right now - just about 6 months till it is winter again

A fine Friday to all

Friday, beautiful weather, not a lot to do except pick up my bike ramp from being rhino lined. Oh yeah, my neihbor is a personal friend of the owner of the dealership where I bought my truck. I have the owners cell phone number now and he wants me to call. They have paperwork where I brought it in over and over because of leaks. I still may get my new $1200 oil pan for free If not, Rhino Lining is going to cover the old one for me for $50. But, of course, a new one would be better.

Another hot one here

I almost feel human again… almost. I hate getting sick, at least this one seems to be a short one. I may go lay out at the beach for a hour or so but other then that I'm just going to take it easy as I'm still real weak from whatever it was that I caught.

Espresso is on

Summer sickness is the worse. Thankfully, I have been feeling great. And, with all the physical labor I have been doing, I have lost 23 pounds

i love celebrating solstices.. and in the west the sky is like 50 times bigger or so it seems.. luckily we were in the high desert and not distracted by lites from the 'land of fake believe'.

i'm going to place my dna on my little office in the back of my friends caribbean night club in downtown las vegas. that way if the doj shows up.. ha ha ha.. i can say.. of course i work there, check for my dna... of course my posted business hours are 9pm-4am wed-sun. what self respecting gov. worker would be available at that hour?

sooo have a good one..

and my sweeedeeee peach.. |viking| have a great celebration..

This is the first time in many years that I've thought of going to the hospital due to being so violently ill.

Good news is I lost over 10 pounds in 24 hours and love the way I look. Too bad it's all water weight so I'll gain it all back in a few days.

I see blue skies…

Good morning all and everyone!

Swedguy - how long is midsummer holiday supposed to last there? I had a partner go home for the "6-week" celebration one year and he stayed for 3 months.

Cleo - I hope you get to feeling better soon.

We've been rained on every day this week it seems. Skies look blue here now. Hopefully they'll be clear this evening right after sunset. Should be nice view of the Triple Conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Saturn.

Back to work here getting the next hosted sites ready for release later today. Not a lot, but may help fill a few holes from sites that have gone 404 recently.

MorganGrayson - the middle comes from the old pagan and witches celebrations of the summer solstice where it is the end of the reign of the waxing year's Oak-King, who is now replaced by the Holly-King of the waning year (who rules until Winter Solstice). Also known as the fight between light and dark in some Pagan circles - as it falls on the longest day of the year - which makes it the shortest night
BTW it occurs in summer (around Jun 21) for the northern hemisphere - and around Dec 22 for the southere hemisphere

Good morning and happy link-bot checking

Good Friday Morning!!

About that midsummer solstice thing. . .

I read somewhere that the change in kings, (Oak & Holly) signifies the change in the life of the sun. As in the winter, the new sun is born on Yule, after the old sun dies, Midsummer signifies 1) the longest day of the year (most amount of daylight), 2) the height of maturity of the sun (king), and the point when the king is considered to have reached maturity, and when he begins to age and die.

At least, I think that's how it went. Sorry for rambling on, and Happy Friday All!

Good Morning everyone, nice and cool here today.. looks like its gonna rain on the St Jean Baptiste celebrations here today. For those of you that dont know. Today is a holiday in Quebec. All the French go out and party and waive their Quebec flags... anyway thats all I have to say about that.

Have a good one!

Update...
I spoke to the owner of the dealership where I bought my truck and they are in fact going to replace my oil pan My Motorcycle Ramp is now Rhino Lined. Next up for Rhino...my wheels. I have aluminum wheels and most people with them know, the clear coat wears off and they look like crap. They are going to have a nice shiny black rhino lining on them next week I think black wheels will look good on my truck.
