Curling is a sort of neanderthal throwback invented by Scottish people.

Luckily, some of them were forced to come to Canada where we modified the game by reducing the size of the rock and then adding goalies, skates, sticks and bodychecking to make it more interesting.

Soccer has a similar history, kick a ball, throw a rock, all very basic boring things that begged for improvement.

Figure skating though has to be the worst. If they win, they cry, and they get roses. If they lose, they cry, and they get roses. WTF is the point

I'm getting close to the point of turning the sound on the next time I watch curling just to see if I can learn something. Most of what I learned from The Simpson's.

And yet... I can't seem to stop watching it...

Curling is so boring to watch YET you find yourself watching it. LOL It's not so bad actually but at this level it is key to have the last rock to get that point. You block and try to sneak a rock in somewhere. When a team scores a point or 2 or more then the other team gets the last rock in the next end. In a close game you want last rock in the final end.

Hey - Im ok with you putting down curling but please not figure skating! HAHAHA

However - Hats off to all these guys, girls and Johnny Weir's for the hours and hours for countless years - of practice. It is totally insane the schedules these people have to go through to learn all this stuff. Its not until you put one of your kids into the sport that you realize exactly what is involved here to make it in any competition, let alone the Olympics.

I'm with you. Curling is not something I'd normally watch but I get drawn to it when it's on. A commentator the other night made me smile when he said that it was so loud in the arena the players couldn't hear what they were saying to each other down the ice. He thought they were basically playing their own games unless they got in a huddle to discuss tactics.

All that does is explain the lack of a good comedy writer at The Huffington Post.

Finals are at 6 today - I hope this Tsunami hits pretty soon so I can watch both events
