Sorry I haven't been around...

Hey everyone,

The past few months have been an emotional rollercoaster for me since being diagnosed with depression. Although I am feeling better, I still have some really bummed out days that mess me up. My doctors' tell me to take it easy and not to stress about anything, so I do the best that I can when I can. I want to thank Mr.Plenty for his pep talks - you are a good friend.

Thanks for your patience.

Sorry to hear that pornrex. I do wonder at the timing...you quit smoking, and then are diagnosed with depression.

There is anecdotal evidence (and possibly actual medical evidence also, but I don't have any sources) that addiction to smoking (whether it be the act, the nicotine, or whatever) is associated with depression. It's said that smoking is a somewhat effective antidote to some forms of depression.

It's no coincidence that the most widely prescribed drug to combat smoking was originally developed as an anti-depressant.

That being said, I hope you're still off the smokes! Let the doctors do the prescribing if that is deemed necessary...don't self-medicate with cigarettes.

Hang in there...I can speak from experience when I say it gets better (and worse, and better, and worse...and much much better).
