Smile Most scary movie

Which horror movie really scares you so that you were not able to sleep in night?

For me, it is Ring starring Blair Witch, I was really scared after watching that movie.

What about you?

I had a Saw marathon, re-viewed all of them in one night...dozed off in the am, but I tell you, it was not a pleasant sleep.

I also found The Cube to be scary. But I watched that a long time ago

Aren't those two completely different movies?

The Ring (or the original Japanese movie Ringu)

The Blair Witch Project

Makes me wonder how you both could mention these two different movies in exactly the same way.

I saw the original Aliens movie when I was about 16. Fell asleep that night, woke up and I swear saw the alien curled up in my open window. No sleep for me the rest of the night.

As for recent movies, Paranormal Experience scared the crap out of me because it seemed so real, like something some filmed with their home camera.

The opening to our attic is right in front of my office door, and the lid? door? is slightly off so there is a small hole, and thinking about, did something get up in the attic? freaked me out for weeks.

Jim keeps suggesting the sequel to me, no frickin way.

I've never really been scared by a horror movie, but I really like 28 Days Later. That's probably my favorite one.

There was a time that I used to watch every horror movie I could find - even the bad ones - looking for one that was scary. When I was 11, we were moving and looking at houses. We had a few hours to wait for our appointment with the realtor in the town so we went to local movie theater which had a few movies showing. I begged and pleaded, and somehow convinced my parents to take us to see Amityville Horror - a rated R movie.

At 11, that movie scared the crap out of me and I had bad dreams for a few nights. One of the houses we were going to look at looked like the house and my younger sister refused to go into the house. A few years later I begged to see Poltergeist - which I found to be just as thrilling. I probably didn't see Alien until the early 80s, but, by then, I was watching horror movies late at night looking for one that scared me as much as Amityville Horror did.

There are a lot of good horror movies, but, grindhouse and gore has replaced true horror and even the old movies don't carry the same effect they once had.

I liked the Saw series, the 28 Days/Weeks series. The only real remake that I thought was extremely well done was Halloween. Rob Zombie's typical films were grindhouse, so, I was not looking forward to his remake.

I don't get to watch as many horror movies as I used to, but, was really surprised to find Horror was one of the larger genres present on Youtube movies.

To date, I have not found a movie that scared me since then. Many have very good and interesting story lines, but, they all lack that effect you get when the movie places a little sliver of doubt in your mind as you walk around that dark corner in the house at night, or the brief hesitation as you open the door you know was open earlier that is somehow closed.

While I didn't particularly like the movie Speed 2, Jan de Bont did a terrific job of keeping you on the edge with each scene being a race against the clock. I imagine some director somewhere may take some of those elements into a horror film and create something absolutely great.

Until then however...

But I agree, Blair Witch was really scary in The Ring.

Blair Witch in the Ring or Blair Witch with the Ring? , but again why would someone give a Ring to Blair Witch, maybe it's totally other Ring, if it was me I would throw Blair Witch and her Ring into the Ring from that movie, you know, The Ring

My contribution

For me it's definitely The Exorcist as the most scary movie ever.

"The Shining" The scene where Jack is having a drink with the dead bartender freaks me out for some reason.

The original 'Exorcist' scared the living hell out of me. I rented it not too long ago, and laughed through most of it. I guess you get numb.

‘Insidious’ was pretty scary.

Just watched YellowBrickRoad last night. It didn't scare me as badly as some movies I've watched, but I have to admit to thinking about certain scenes over and over since we watched it.

First movie by a director, and a good start. The first really gory part was very unexpected so kind of freaky.

I saw it this weekend. Townspeople going up the mountains and disappearing during the 1940s was a great premise. The Blair Witch feel really worked at the start. But the execution was just a waste. It didn't really go anywhere. Blair Witch had more umph in the end than this one.

And really, can a guy really break of a woman's legs from its sockets with his bare hands?
