DirecTV HD & DVR - Problems or normal?
Is it normal to get distortion on the recorded programs? I don't think I have one movie recorded without pixelation or some kind of distortion.
I only recorded on HD, and I never have a problem when I watch TV. |

Looks the same recorded or live for me on both my DVRs. One is a DirecTV HD DVR and one is a DirecTV Tivo DVR.

I had that problem about 4 months ago, drove me crazy.
After tons of tech support (including resetting with the card out) we finally found it was the second tuner connection wasn't right (the add on filter to get the certain satelite channels where most the hd content comes from)...we found that by switching the two connections to the two tuners...the direct tv dvrs by default use the second tuner to record (unless you are already watching and then decide to record) You can check that out by looking at the upper satelite signals signal strength, and see if both tuners are getting the same strength Switched out the bad piece and all pixelation dissapeared (except during our rare (cough) S Florida rainstorms) |

Thanks for the quick answers, I called DirecTV and they will sent a tech out on Wednesday morning. At least I know it is not normal and it can be fixed.
