Crowd Power
 

Last weekend I went to a music festival in the glorious surroundings of the Scottish glens. The festival was based around a 1970's and soon to be re released film, called 'the Wicker Man'.

The culminaton of the festival was the burning if a 35ft man made of Reeds..I was totaly caught up with 10,000 strong crowd as they chanted 'Burn him, burn him'..the odd fact is that the 'Wicker Man' is a pagan rite..where a real person would have been burned alive...It was easy to see how a lynch mob could carry out terrible crimes.....

I've been up close and personal with mob mentality before and it's scary how one losses inhibitions and becomes part of something instead of being someone.
