July '07 vs July '08

Comments in the Good Morning thread got me to thinking, so I ran some numbers.

Aggregate totals across all sponsors.
July '07 vs July '08
income -2.20%
clicks +23.89%
$/click '07 = $0.0379
$/click '08 = $0.0282
conversion ratio '07 = 1:705
conversion ratio '08 = 1:879

I made about the same money, but I had to work harder to get it. The $/click difference is the one that I find most disturbing.

I'm curious if others have stats that show similar comparisons for July '07 vs July '08

I just log my absolute income numbers, but I can say one thing for sure. After 10 years of straight increasing income, 2008 will be my first year in the biz with a decline in revenue. It looks like 20% less than 2007 (while traffic has increased).

Cleo 2008-08-07 09:19 PM

Traffic is up, sales are down. That pretty much sums up this year.

The same here.

JustRobert 2008-08-08 01:08 AM

Lets just say traffic and unique click thrus are way way up but overall sales are down |banghead|

Far more look-e-loos this year and with less sales this means less rebills as well :(

Useless 2008-08-08 10:18 AM

I'm doing much better, but I have more than twice as much traffic as I had last year. I don't know how much I'm making per click overall, but I know it's not that good. I was looking at some numbers the other day and I was less than impressed by my money:clicks ratio. I've been slowly pruning out some of the big sponsors since I'm one of those people who can't seem to convert a program that owns 50 paysites. |huh Sending traffic to smaller sponsors who don't have a marketing expert on staff or run $100 promos seems to have helped my earnings. Go figure.

JustRobert 2008-08-08 11:31 AM

Took a quick look at ccbill rebills and I see a 16% drop from last year.
I looked further into length of rebills and found this:
12+ months : both years are roughly 35%
6+ months : both years are roughly 48%
3+ months : 75% in 07 compared to 68% in 08

Probably worthless stats but I thought the 3+ months was interesting. I need to weed out sponsors that are no longer converting. I sometimes have a hard time with that because they have made sales in the past.

SheepGuy 2008-08-08 12:21 PM

I'm making less with AVS but more than I expected to make what with having ProAdult stealing my rebills.
Making a lot more with cam sites, sales have more than doubled, slightly less with CCBill and paysite sponsors. AEBN sales are up around 10%.
Traffic is up overall, but not hugely, income is down overall, but not hugely.
I'm optimistic that I'm on the right track.

lorsha 2008-08-08 12:35 PM

As a site owner, more or less the same. Sales are down 5% from last year at this point. But since my price was raised to $29.95 / month from $24.95, income is actually up over last year. So I can live with that. As far as I'm concerned though, I have hit a ceiling with price increases, so the next couple of years are going to be quite a challenge to say the least.

Xallow 2008-08-08 12:49 PM

How do you hit a ceiling with price increases at 29.95? if the surfer is willing to pay, and apparently a lot of surfers think that "more expensive = higher quality" I don't see hitting that ceiling untill at least 39.95... unless it is a moral thing....

You very well may be right. I just keep an eye on many other "amateur" sites, and I am the highest. Hey ... maybe I deserve to be! |bananna|

Allie, Julie and Rio each charge $29.99/month. Barbi is at $29.95. Desirae and Paris (a fucking goddess) should have increased their prices a long time ago.

Toby 2008-08-08 01:43 PM

Lady Sonia has been at $34.95 for a couple of years now, with a $39.95 non-recur option. But, her site content has quality and quantity that few solo sites can match.

HowlingWulf 2008-08-08 04:27 PM

July 07 uniques 1:634 121k clicks, 0.06/click
July 08 uniques 1:1994 194k clicks, 0.04/click

Revenue is almost exactly the same.

Plan to get more traffic... check.
Plan to convert better... fail.

Isn't July the slowest month though?

Didn't I just see a thread at the zoo about you being the |bow|QUEEN!

As far as numbers:
$$$s overall are up (more traffic)
¢¢¢s click is up (better targeting, more micro-niches)

Still adding sponsors/sites/traffic so I figure my overall $$$s will still keep growing as fast as I can add stuff.

I've seen a decline in both. But yeah, my click-to-sale ratio is way down over last year, even in the niches I do passably well in. |cry|

papagmp 2008-08-09 03:20 PM

My sales are about double - but then I was real new at this this time last year.

This week has been real good to me for some reason.

papagmp 2008-08-10 02:42 AM

Just closed out our best week ever|bananna||bananna||bananna|

Greenguy 2008-08-10 05:45 PM

My MSMoney goes back to Jan 04 & July 08 was my worst month on record.

Allfetish 2008-08-11 01:30 AM

Traffic for me is up.
But conversion ratios are higher by about 15%.

Refunds/Chargebacks WAY UP :(
Rebills down about 30% :(

I'm making mroe than than last year but doing much more work and sending more than double the traffic.

We just had out best two weeks on record - and with pretty much the same traffic - I have my fingers crossed that it continues.

stfuvt 2008-08-14 02:59 AM

I am making the same amount of money but with harder work and more expenses
