majick - Thanks, it was a nightmare job but I have now seceded. The info on
http://www.noccc.org/bytes/articles/v01/551.html was just what I needed but it only works if both Outlooks are on the same version of Windows, so I just spent 2 days changing drives, formatting with one version of Windows, transferring files, forwarding the emais to myself, then formatting the drives again, changing drives, downloading and sorting emails, etc.. It was not my idea of fun, but it had to be done or I was going to loose clients. Thanks a lot for saving my bacon.
tiny - Thanks, although that did not help with my previous problem (as I could not open the old version of Outlook to use it) I will look into it tomorrow to back up in future to prevent me ever getting into this mess again. However my first task is to go out and get drunk, I need it after the last few days.
