Registered a new domain name over the weekend, did not use a privacy service on it. Today found spam from three different companies trying to sell me SEO for that domain (all three were trying to look as though they were an "official" service of the domain registrar, and to convince me that this was the "next stage" of registering).
Some time back I remember participating in a thread here where a link list owner was defending his/her rule that they would not accept sites on a domain that used domain privacy. They poo-pooed my argument that not using domain privacy left you open to spam and said this never happened. I cannot remember who it was, but if I do, I gonna forward all my spam to them!
