The empty apartment next to mine (the one that used to be a cannabis farm) was turned into an impromptu meat market yesterday. One of my neighbours had robbed a local supermarket and made off with a load of fresh meat. As the apartment had no tenant, and the idiot landlord had left it unlocked, it made it a "safe" place for him to use to fence the meat. All evening the doorbell was ringing as hard up local arrived to buy cheap dead animal.

|cheese|Yesterday was a culinary milestone for me too. I love cheese, and Cheddar is one of my favourite cheeses. But last night was the first time I tried "real" cheddar cheese. - Although Cheddar is sold all over the world, it was invented in Cheddar (hence the name) and originally made in the Cheddar Gorge in a cave called Wookey Hole. Last night I bought some cheddar cheese actually made in the original cheesery in Wookey Hole. It was good cheese.

I just realised. In Britain most channels show sports, of all kinds. And with several dedicated sports only channels, practically everything gets covered. "Off-course betting" is legal, and most parades of shops have at least one bookmaker ready to take bets on horses (or anything else). But we never get the Kentucky Derby over here. We have a TV station that broadcasts nothing but horse racing, and we have chain store bookmakers trying to get us to bet on anything that moves. But no one has thought to use the Kentucky Derby! Someone (or several someones) is/are missing a trick!
