As a general rule, "off the peg" purchased scripts have to have a "general suit all" policy because the programmer does not know exactly what every client will want the script to do. And even if they did, all clients would all want something different. So "off the peg" scripts are rarely "the best" script for any job. In other words, if you see a script on a site that you think is amazing, the odds are that the site owner wrote it himself for his/her own use only (or paid someone to write it for his/her own use only).
