Greenguy, you are a Hitchhiker's Guide fan, right?

I mean, that's where the Green Guy character came from...first place I ever saw it at least.

Anyway, here's a teaser trailer for the movie:

It will no doubt be a disappointment, there is no way you can transfer a radio show like this to a movie. Take the TV version for example, that was written by Adams and was faithful to the original, but still disappointed.

I'm going to have to re-read all the books, it has been soooo long, but I remember laughing out loud to some of them. I hope the movie is good.

I just read that Douglas Adams is one of the executive producers. There is more info about it here:

RE "I just read that Douglas Adams is one of the executive producers" Only if the film was finished years ago. Adams has been dead some long time.

Executive Producer is really a non-title. It is usually given to people as a sop, to flatter their ego and keep them happy, but it really means "Producer in charge of bugger all" (look at the second Harry Potter film, one of the executive producers was a 12 year old schoolboy). I know that Adams was never keen on a "Hollywood" production of his radio show, and has at least once turned down obscene amounts of money for the rights. So I would guess that when the project started he was still alive, and they offered him "Executive Producership" to get him to sell the rights.

Also it will probably help sell it to die hard fans who will object to any "Hollywoodisation". It sounds more "genuine Hitchiker's" if they can say that Douglas Adams was Executive Producer (it sounds good if you don't know how little it means).

(P.S. Sorry if my English becomes grocery with "genuine Hitchiker's", I think I mean "belonging to HHGG", but I am not certain.

P.P.S If you don't understand the P.S., don't sweat it.)

My new computer is called Hot Black after Hotblack Desiato, lead singer of disaster area, (who spends a year dead for tax purposes) and their stuntship, which is just so... black. "Light just seems to fall into it.!"

I watched the trailer. It has caused some trepidation... how can HHGG have all that big Hollywood music in it? Where are all the hoopy froods with their towels?

U R 2 Kewl. lol

Um, *cough*, but seriously - what boggles my mind is that Mos Def is playing Ford Prefect. Now, Mos Def is awesome...but, Ford Prefect, to me, is a short, pale, geeky dude.

Of course, Trillian is a tall, slender, elegant brunette - and if you've ever seen the TV version...just, no.

So, whatever happens with the movie, I suppose it can all be explained by the use of the Infinite Improbability Drive.

As there is only one English speaking radio station that still does drama series and serials, and that station's future is in doubt, I guess this will be the last time a radio serial ends up as a major movie, and it is also probably the first time in decades. So however bad it is, it will at least have that record.
