Don't make me get into the "Why Star Trek is better than Star Wars" debate. You'll feel geeky, I'll feel geeky, and everyone will suddenly think we wear pocket protectors.

But with that said...first three star wars movies were great, the new star wars movies just kinda sucked. Supposedly the last one is good...we'll see.

Blasphemer.

I saw a post the other day on another board that kind of summed it up for me, re: ST vs SW. SW was about "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." ST was about OUR world, and presented a hopeful future. As an angry optimist, I naturally gravitate toward the ST world. It suggests that at some point, we actually pull our heads out of our asses and get it together...granted, not for a long time; but eventually. I like that vision.

SW is (or was) good entertainment, but ST had a level of social commentary I enjoyed - and still enjoy to this day.

Star Trek is for loser geeks - everyone knows that. I think every TV sit com at one point or another has poked fun at Trekies and their rediculous conventions.

Star Wars is for serious mature individuals such as myself - LOL!
I got goose bumps from the latest trailer!

I have to agree. Dr. who is on the top of my list of scifi that I love. Star wars is great and all but I'm not as excited by the new movie as I'm excited in trying to get the new dr. who to the USA.

Is anything actually happening on the Star Trek front ? I mean are they making any new episodes of any of the Star Treks, or a new Saga ? Or is Star Trek now finally dead ?

No kidding. I remember as a teenager going to a Sci Fi and comic convention and being amazed at the money changing hands. At that time I did not even know that "real" people had that sort of money.

LOL, okay, I'll give you the fact that Yoda in episode 2 was pretty damn good...but the rest of the story seemed too, I dunno, soap opera like. I think the original 3 Star Wars had a different pace. From start to finish everything had a flow and was important.

As for Star Trek, the original series, you just can't beat it. Everything from Shatner's acting, lol, to the cheesy special effects...it had it all.

All sci-fi is good though, even that overrated Dr. Who, hehe, lol.

Damn, I gotta get the pocket protector out of storage...shoot, I thought I got rid of this side of me once I became an adult.

The reason the first Star Wars (IV) was so much better than the modern ones was that Lucas made that one for love, these he made for the money. For example you can see the bits where he (or someone at Lucas Arts) had an idea for a computer game, then he wrote a scene into the movie around the game.

RE: "Damn, I gotta get the pocket protector out of storage...shoot, I thought I got rid of this side of me once I became an adult." - No, you became a web site designer. P.P. are de rigeur for anyone working with computers.

RE: "overrated Dr. Who" {Ecchi goes red with anger, and begins to download extreme S&M pictures from the web so he can use Photoshop to edit photos of Mr. Blue into the most sadistic tortures he can find.}

Star Wars was based on old epic sagas set in the future (or long time ago far far away). Kirosawa did it first.. lol. I saw the first one at a drive in when it came out. Quite a nice surprise movie..

Star Trek was nice for it's original time. Asian, Russian, African, Scottish, Vulcans.. all working together. On the U.S.S. Enterprise, hehe.
