Fans of the new Doctor Who?

The new series starts in Britain in a week, and last year's is airing right now on Sci Fi channel. It's some really great stuff, if you're at all a sci-fi or genre fan. Any other pornmongers out there watching it?

I watched the episode from start to finish last Saturday for the first time. It was on between the only two series I like to watch... House and Monk, lol. It was a bit hokey, the costumes for the aliens were pretty bad, but I liked it overall. The brits have a great sense of dry humor, and I was glad to see Dr. Who had that too.

I saw the last 1/2 of one where this girl could hear "spirits" and was trying to let them through and they ended up being a race that was trying to take over the earth. That one was good....I wish I'd seen all of that episide.

If there is nobody out there, that's a lot of real estate going to waste!

I haven't been able to keep up much with the new series due to conflicting times. Somewhat better effects and story lines in this series, but, I guess I really need to see more episodes.

My favorite doctors so far have been Tom Baker(1974-81) and Jon Pertwee(1970-74).

Hell I have had April 15 (the day the new series starts over here) ringed on my calendar for weeks. Those of you in America who are a year behind should look out for the episode called 'Empty Child', although it may get edited before you see it, so may not be as good.

Some of us on the US side have ways that shall remain nameless for having had the UK eps for the last 6 months or so. And I have 4/15 circled and exclamation pointed on my calendar. I have an unnatural fondness for David Tennant.

I think it was in Blackpool that I fell for him.

Yes, Blackpool was a good series. However, most non-British people who like him, list his Scottish accent as one of the reasons. If that includes you, I am afraid you are in for a disappointment. Although he used his 'real' accent in Blackpool, like most Scottish actors, he usually uses a 'fake' accent to disguise the fact that he is a Scot. And I am afraid in Doctor Who he not only uses an English accent, but a rather bland whiny one (not entirely sure what part of England the accent is supposed to come from, but it is further south than Eccleston, and not as far south as where I live (London)).

There is another connection between Blackpool, and Dr Who. The main DR Who museum is in the town of Blackpool (You can actually see in in the background in one episode of the TV show 'Blackpool').

Sorry, is my Anorak showing again?
