An SEO question about loading keywords in Wordpress

I have a question to the SEO gurus out there. A webmaster friend told me that he has stopped loading keywords in the "Title" and "Description" fields when creating an entry in Wordpress. He just places them on the "caption" or alt field. The reason being Google has begun looking down on sites that overloads its entries and ignores them. Since he's a good associate, I have begun to follow it. But somehow, this looks like a proverbial old wives' tale. Is this true?

Google has ALWAYS looked down on keyword stuffing. Nothing new, and not a surprise. It doesn't matter whether you use static pages or a piece of shit like WordPress.

I didn't call anyone an idiot, and if you haven't read any poor reviews for WP, then you live in a very small world. I stated my opinion, that's all. I'm not looking for an argument.

Ok what about the several thousand great reviews about that you can find on the web?

i think if you know how to use it and make it secure WP is great, if you don;t than it's another story.

They are not idiots, but they probably have not sent enough traffic to it to make it unstable. Ive had a few huge blogs that recieved so much traffic that it kept shutting down or freezing up my mysql database. When you have a database thats 8+ gigs in size and gets hammered with 20, 30, or 40 thousand unique visitors daily it tends to become quite unstable. A few members of this board have had the same problem i believe.
I like wordpress if im just going to implement sponsor rss feeds(splogs), but for any major projects forget it.

I've had the same problem, a couple of different times. If I were to build another big blog project, it would not be on WP.

I still use WP for some things as it does have it's uses but I really limit what I do with the script.

Number of users is no guarantee of quality. For example Windows is one of the worst written programs in the history of badly written programs, yet billions of people use that!

You need to get out more - I don't use Wordpress (I wrote my own blog software to run my blogs - that way it does exactly what I want it to do), so have no interest in it, but even so I have heard similar comments several times before.

'Tis you who say it! But just because you have to use a piece of crap because it is the "industry standard", does not make you an idiot for using it. Workbench/Kickstart is still a lot better than Windows or MacOS, but there is not the software for it, and since computers have got a lot faster since it was last updated, the machines that can use Workbench/Kickstart are very slow by today's standards - so most people use Windows or MacOS. Many of these know that they are using an inferior OS, but they have no choice, that does not make them idiots. I am guessing that most Wordpress users are not idiots either, they just use what is to hand.

To the OP: If you use keywords in a normal sentence you'll be fine, not 'Anal sex girl loves anal sex in these anal sex pics!' Google does not approve, and I'm glad for that.

1) our CMS can be modified in any way because it is open coded

Thanks for your response, but for starters my name is hashbury
I love open coded, but that wordpress plugin does not make a big difference on WP when we are talking about a database thats around 8 gigs with 40,000 visitors a day.
As far as a members area, the plugin mentioned would be fine, But i doubt there are a lot of paysites that have 40,000+ paying members logged in.

I got a 60k unique(no skim traffic) a day WordPress blog. I never stuff words of pull any crap that is not relevant to my content. Make sure to use All-in-One SEO plugin to avoid duplicate titles. All-in-One SEO keeps it simple so all you have to worry about is adding content.

I have another blog that is hitting the 10k unique mark. On this blog, I concentrated on pure SEO. I am using the Thesis Theme( http://diythemes.com/thesis/ ) for a solid SEO foundation.
