Newbie Looking For Free Site Info Please

Howdy all,

I am new to the board. I was referred here because ya'll have tons of experts when it comes to free sites and where to get them listed. I just hope this is the right section to submit this post.

Anyway, I was reading a thread about free sites and decided that I need to learn more free sites. I read the info that everybody provided in regards to how it should consist of and have put my first attempt together that you can see HERE. Since this is my first attempt, I would appreciate any and all comments/suggestions/input.

Next, if my site is acceptable, I would appreciate knowing the best place(s) to submit the site.

I would also like to know if going with a subdomain is better than making it a folder/file on a TLD and why.

The free sites that I have looked at all have some links. Are these suppose to work like link trades do on a blog? Is it acceptable to have links to the sponsor? How about linking to my blogs that are BDSM/Bondage related? Keep in mind that I don't really know squat about free sites so I am hoping that ya'll will educate me.

I am not 100% clear as to what exactly the purpose of a free site is, so if someone would care to explain it to me, I would appreciate that too. After all, I have only built blogs so this is something completely new to me. With the way big G is putting the stick to adult sites, I have no clue as to how to get back to making a few bucks at this. While I grope around tying to figure things out and find out what will work for me again, I figured that I might as well this this free site thing a shot. The worse that can happen is that I end up learning something new.

Finally, I would appreciate a list of the best places to start submitting my free sites. Need someplace to get the free sites that I am going to build listed so that I can makes tons of cash and mamma a new pair of shoes. LOL

I would appreciate anything ya'll have to offer on this subject. I had fun building this free site and had to brush up on my limited coding skills since WP doesn't really require any.

Hi there and welcome to the board.

On a first glimp your freesite looks very good, you've certainly done your research it appears. Your warning box does look a bit messed up in Firefox, you should check your freesites in different browsers to see if it's compatible with them. Firefox, IE, Safari are the most used so that would probably do.

The purpose of freesites... well it's just another way of promoting sites just like you do with blogs or TGP galleries. The more ways you promote a site the more money you're likely to make. The advantage of freesites is that you send the surfers through 2 pages of ads before they reach the content. Also you might get a bit of SE traffic to your "mini-site" but with all the recent google changes I'm not betting anything on that anymore.

I completely forgot about checking the site in other browsers. I have made the necessary corrections so that everything looks okay in Chrome, FF and IE9 now.

Glad to hear that it's okay to use sub-folders. I am tired of spending money on TLD's and them not making any sales.

I will check out your LL and the others you suggested and I appreciate your input. It is helpful and my comment about making tons of cash was my attempt at humor. Guess I need to work on that a bit too. LOL

I have seen some link lists that refuse to accept sub domains (assuming by "sub domain" you mean the "www" bit, eg http://sub-domain.domain-name.com) - no idea why, but there are some strange webmasters out there.

If you mean the links to other link lists - most link lists like a link back to them, and most expect you to add links to several other sites too. That way they get some of the traffic from the visitors to your free site from the other link lists

That is how you make the money. (Unless you mean in the bit reserved for other link lists, that is NOT allowed by most link lists.)

Two things to note here:
1. Most link sites limit the number of links to sponsors you have per page, and most of them consider links to your blogs as "sponsor links", so you will have to add them in that count.
2. Some link sites won't accept bondage websites or links to sites with bondage on them. And some that accept bondage, only accept softcore pictures (i.e. no sex activity of any kind). So you will have to look at the rules individually.

You give away some free porn and have adverts in between the porn, like commercial breaks. Hopefully people will buy from the adverts and you make money from this.

It depends on what the site is like, what genre, etc. Here is how I used to find link lists: When you have found one link list (eg: http://www.link-o-rama.com/ or several sigs on this board) pick a site similar to yours from the listings and go to the gateway page. You will find a list of other link sites there (if there are none there, it is a sponsor's site put there by the link list owner, in which case try another site on the list). Since the site is similar to yours, and assuming the webmaster is not an idiot, these should be link lists suitable for your site. Repeat this until you have enough link lists to use.

To make money you need to submit each site to hundreds of link lists, otherwise you won't make enough money to cover the time spent creating the website. However most link lists will not list you if you have hundreds of links to other link sites. The way round this is to make lots of gateway pages (i.e. copy the warning page and call each one, for example, index1.html, index2.html, index3.html, etc). Note that a few link lists do not like this, but there are hundreds, probably thousands, that do, so don't submit to those that disallow this practise.

There is "auto submit" software available do NOT use it. Most good link lists to not allow auto submissions, and even if you only use it on sites that allow auto submissions, the software often screws up, and you get a bad rep for sending mangled links etc. However do look out for software that helps fill in forms for you without submitting (i.e. you go to the link list submit page, click a button on your browser, the software fills in the submit form for you and YOU check it over before YOU submit it). This is allowed by most link lists, it involves checking it yourself before submitting so (assuming you are not daydreaming) mistakes won't get posted, and it saves a hell of a lot of time.

Sometimes you may find a link list with a silly rule (or to be more accurate "often you will find link lists with bloody stupid rules") and you may be tempted to ignore or break the rule. Don't do it. Instead just don't submit to that site, there are plenty of other link lists. You may think you won't get caught, and if you are, you will just get blacklisted on one site, so no biggie. But webmasters share their blacklists and some even publish them on their sites or discuss and name the rule breaker in web boards/ in chat rooms. So pissing off one asshole who runs a shit link list may get you banned on several good link lists run by good webmasters.

Finally be aware that link list submission is not an easy way to make money. I have not done it in a while because: (1) It is too much like hard work. (2) Constant submitting is bloody boring. (3) I can make more money with less effort producing mainstream websites selling spell eBooks.

I have spent the past couple of years building and updating blogs and got bored with it. I also had a few of my money makers get slapped with the last Google update so I am taking a bit of a break from the blogs to explore other options and brush up on my coding skills before I completely forget how to do it. Getting old is a real PITA!

I may devote some time to building free sites for a spell just to break up the boredom, but I think it might be time to start looking into mainstream. It looks like the future of adult isn't going to get any brighter for the time being and with all the free porn that is out there, I don't know why anyone would want to pay for it.

If its alright with you, I would like to PM you to find out more about how you are doing with selling ebooks and maybe share your thoughts on I could get started in mainstream.

Fine. However nearly all the mainstream stuff I do involves promoting programs I run myself. So any reply I give you will basically involve advising you about using my own program, which is going to come over a bit spammy. I have so little good experience promoting other people's mainstream programs that I cannot honestly recommend them. So be prepared for a reply that basically says "Everyone else is crap, but my program is great"!
