Allergic to smoke?

Why do people say they are allergic to smoke? My wife and I just had another couple over the house last night and I hate when people say that. I feel it insults my intelegence. There is and has not been any proof that people are allergic to smoke. You know why? Because doctors and scientist have no reason to study this. We already know smoking is bad for you. And the statement "I"M ALLERGIC" makes the person look like an ass. When you are allergic to something it has a negative effect on your body. IE my dad is allergic to peaches. When he touches one he breaks out in a rash. That's allergic. But just not liking the smell of cigarettes or whatever is fine. How about just telling the smoker. Please the smoke really bothers my eyes or the smoke really makes it hard for me to concentrate on what you are saying. Just don't say you are ALLERGIC cause there is no real facts for that statement. Every living thing has problems with smoke because its the opposite of air...
