Come on, show me some successful blogs

Hello everybody,

after gathering first experiences blogging on thumblogger I decided to start my own blog.
Now I wonder what it takes running a successfull blog. I looked around, but there are
millions of blogs out there and one cant tell whether the're successfull or not.

So, perhaps you might want to post yours to show what it looks like

aj.

I am 1:2840 at MILFGazette. I get about 800 uniques a day and I've been open since August. The site is made with Joomla. Unfortunately, I am not planning to leave my day job anytime soon but the blog thing seems to be working for me! I'll be satisfied when (and if) I reach 4,000 daily visitors. I hope that volume gives me a sale or two a day.

Define success....XXX Blog Maniac (see sig) was getting 6k uniques until recently but doesn't generate much in sales. I consider it a success because I created it with generating traffic, not sales, in mind.

Battlin Bitchs on the otherhand only gets about 1k a day but averages a sale a day. I consider it a success as it was meant to make sales.

This one made me a little over $1k between two of the three programs advertised on it, highest the traffic ever got was 600 uniques a day now down to 100 and I'm sure the reason for the drop off in traffic is that it just rotates the same pornstars over and over, I have a solution in mind but it's number 7 on my to do list Retro Bro

Very nice sites you guys.

Defining success: Can be both, generating traffic AND making sales.
One thing I noticed is that all those blogs seem to work by the heavy use of names, pornstar names....

I'm new to this but I think your comment is true. If I write about a specific MILF pornstar (i.e. "Jada Fire"), I can see Google results showing that person's name a few days later. Although I must say, I am seeing more generic search terms (i.e. "hot milfs") as the site grows.

Ohja I do, I do and at least for my German traffic it seems to work out so far. But this is due to my niche being rather new in Krautsland

Now I also want to start something for international traffic that's supposed to be total different. Germans are to be satisfied with very little effort.

i've made a few K with this one, its my oldest blog. gets about 700-1000 uniques a day. lots of google image traffic tho. makes a around 4 or 5 signups a week and also some steady supplimental $$ from online dating (i am using a kickass dating program).

http://www.bigfatbeavers.com/bbw-pussy/

I have a few others that have done/are doing pretty well too and a bunch of newer ones that have made anything from $0 to a few hundred. in a few weeks i'm gonna launch some more and just keep building.. blogging pays off in the end. i'm by no means a blog guru or expert.. I still have a lot to learn and have to find more time to update my blogs. I only handwrite, I don't really splog.

I guess this is a very important thing. Unfortunately the most time-cosuming, too

Directly linking pics to pp does work? IMO this is very arrant advertising...

My blog gets just over 1k a day in hits and makes me about $2k a month without much effort.

http://www.rochardsbunnyranch.com/blog/screenshot.jpg

In 2004 or so I had decided I needed learn more about blogs and TGPs to see if I could help Lightspeed's affilaite's needs better. I went to Steve with the idea and he wasn't intersted, so I did it on my own in what little free time I had. Learned about TGPs but it bored me, but I liked the blog thing. So I kept it. Easy money man, easy money.

I mix it up.. sometimes I link to a gallery, other times just straight to the tour. They both do the job.

It still impresses me

Seems the babe type blogs do well, if the site is done well. For sure one of the more popular types. This might sound strange but I wonder if it is because they are more softcore? You look at most of the babe blogs, the girls only do softcore, no guys involved. Maybe surfers fall in love with them and more so because there are no other guys around?

The other thing I keep saying over and over, but no one seems to listen. Create a fictional character, or life of a fictional character. Course a sexual type one is best. The porn world is all fantasy anyways, why not start your own?

Couple of questions as I am wanting to jump into blogging...do specific niche blogs do better than general type blogs? Nice Asses better than Hardcore Sex for example? I too like the babes blog above. Seems like solo girls are pretty popular, too.

And as for traffic, do you do submit blogs to list? How do you go about getting traffic?

Yeah, for me, niche blogs do way better than general. I haven't really tried general, though, so it probably just depends on how and what you're selling to a general audience in an over saturated niche. Your mileage will probably vary like a mofo.

One thing I've learned over the years is to take broad statements like, "This doesn't work..." or "That doesn't work." with a grain of salt. Because it seems to depend on the individual who is doing it as opposed to a blanket rule-of-thumb or general consensus.

As for submitting, I submit to Social Bookmarking sites and some link dumps for SEO and search engine crawlers. If you want to make sales from those sites then get creative with the titles to draw in more clicks.

Oh, and yes, babe / solo girl blogs can do very well. One of my first blogs was a babe blog and it was a consistent seller from week one. I say was because that was the only blog that I had on Google's Blogger dot com, years ago... It eventually es-ploded into a million little tiny pieces parts... |bus|

So, yeah. Whatever you do, make sure to strike Blogger from your memory and never, ever even look in it's direction. Plenty of great blog hosts, hosting accounts and cheap domains registrars anyway.

For me, working the general produces more traffic, refining the niche sells better.

It's not exactly easy, but it is very possible. If all you have is the Walrus, maybe you can stretch it out, pull it sideways, maybe there's really a deep fantasy side that you don't let come out, who knows.

I just see person after person ask which niche is best, how to get traffic, when they are missing the point altogether. You say it, and it's like they don't even see it. Over their head.

Basically no niche is better than another. Basically no traffic tactic that is really better than another. None of that really matters. to a point.

What matters is what you say. If your blog is not interesting or does not have some kind of character(personality), or even a character as in fictional person, if your blog is not interesting, it doesn't matter what niche your in or how you try to gather traffic, your blog probably won't be a hit. There exceptions to the rule, or if you trade a bunch of traffic (force surfers to your site).

I have a bunch of blogs that just spit out porn, different niches, how do they do? Just okay. Why? Because of what I said above.

I have another blog where I created a character, a fantasy character that is interesting and the surfers believe it. Guess what it was a hit pretty quick, much more so than my other blogs. It's not a huge success because I don't put enough in to it, not as I should. I don't push the envelope as much as I could. I'll tell you though, how many e-mails I've gotten from people talking to this fake "girl", they want to meet her, date her, ect. Believing the fantasy and coming back to keep reading. Even though I haven't got it to the best it can be, for time spent it is the most productive.

I think every one has it in them. Some wild side they wish they could live, some dark side no one knows about. They might even know some one that is interesting.

Instead of worrying about which niche, or which traffic generation tip, why not create something people want to read? Content is king and always will be. Many say, if you produce good (or interesting) content, people will find you. It would also help a GREAT deal if it was something you would be interested in, something that excites you.

Stop chasing the pot of gold and just create. Create interesting.

Ronnie when I did the TJ escort thing I was having two problems, guys making dates then not showing up and collecting my half from the hookers.
I solved both problems by putting email addresses to the girls on the site then I would play hooker and answer them. If they wanted to see more pictures they had to join the site for $100, if they wanted a date they had to join the site and then give the girl $100 when they met.
I was doing 3 to 5 sales a day flirting with Johns and half of them never even went on a date.
I have no doubt your blog with the fake girl will do well as long as you can keep up the charade.

Great example. Well, my blog does "okay", probably because I spend little time on it, actually it's turned more into a porn post, sadly. Just don't have the time. Non-adult is also taking up more time, a good thing..

What you said is proof though, or a perfect example. It doesn't even have to be a hooker. You could be some teen slut, or a cheer leader whore, or male hooker, a male stud, even a fetish freak, a soccer mom dom, a secret tranny. The list is endless. Look at Rochard, he puts a personality into his blog.

To many people worrying about the wrong things. Took me a while to figure it out to I guess. But if you don't have good content, or interesting content, isn't generating traffic some what a waste? Instead of building a base, your constantly working on getting more new eyeballs. Look at Google, one of the things they look at when figuring ranks, is how long people stay on your site, how often they come back.

Why?

Content is King. Or real close.

I am the last one to preach, as much of my blogs is just, "here's the porn", because I don't have time, thats my excuse..

I kind of goaded ronnie on purpose because I knew if he got long winded enough he could really drive home is point...and it is an excellent one.

Mass splogs have their place but if you really want something that attracts people, generates traffic, then a interesting blog will win out every time over 10-20 splogs.

Content is king? Are you kidding?

You can have the best product in the world but if you don't put it in front of people, you won't sell it. (And in this business putting it in front of people means traffic)

Your right, but not getting the point. You gotta start with a good product in the first place. In this case a blog, a blog with good content. Plus if you have the best product in the world, people will find you, less traffic work.

If you start with a crappy or low quality product, where is most of the traffic you worked on generating going to go? Out the door and probably not come back. Why should they? So your constantly working on getting new traffic. Actually some what counter productive really.

If you have the best product in the world, your traffic is only going to grow, people come back, people stay longer on the site, they bookmark, they add the feed to their reader so they don't miss anything, ect, ect. You end up getting more from your traffic generation efforts.

Would the dyson vacuum cleaner be where it is today if it didn't make a great product? It's been talked about on this very board, word of mouth. Just one example.
