Angry Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggh!

Some of you may remember that we had a big sporting event over here in London a couple of years ago. It was called the Olympic Games. It was apparently great for Britain, it brought money into the country, improved our standing as a tourist destination (London now ranks number 1, in the world, in the list of cities visited by tourists), it improved public moral, and gave us a general "feel good" factor.

But in London itself it was a bloody nightmare. I spend a lot of time in the area near where the games were held. Places were closed, roads were blocked, large areas were security "no go" areas, and the number of people in some places got ridiculous (think "January sales" in a large shopping centre, then multiply that by ten). But we put up with it for a few weeks, and it is over now. It is unlikely that the games will be held in London again in my lifetime, isn't it?.....Isn't it?

So Yesterday I was walking a friend's dog near where the Olympics were held, and when I got back to his place he had returned from work and had left the London evening paper on his dining table. The lead article was on the Rio games, and the fact that they are a long way behind in construction (apparently they have only finished 10% of the project, at this point in the London games we had done 60%, and the Olympic committee think that anything less than 40% means it is unlikely that the facilities will be finished in time). So, understandably, the Olympic committee were looking for a "Plan B" in case they have to cancel the 2016 Rio games. They are looking at possible alternative venues. And they are in talks with the British government with a view to using the London stadiums if the Rio ones are not finished. In other words, Plan B is to hold the 2016 games in London again.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggh!

They say that there is only a small chance that this will happen. But a small chance is still to much of a chance. I want NO chance!

Be aware that if this does happen, then come 2016 I will turn up on your doorstep and be banging on your front door demanding sanctuary!
