Newbie submitter needs assistance

Hi, I started my own link list a couple weeks back and I decided to start submitting free sites myself. I think I will go with 24 pictures per free site (12 per page) and build a new template for each free site and submit a new one every couple days until I have around 30 or 40 templates. Then Ill just watch the click-throughs and see who lists what templates and replace the non-performers. I have a couple of questions before I get started submitting though.

I noticed a few of the link lists say they dont like sponsor content. I can understand that they probably see the same content over and over and they make this rule "No sponsor content" because of this. But Ive spent quite a bit of time looking through alot of the free sites listed in the niche I want to promote and none of them were using the sponsor I selected or the content. The problem I have with this is that the sponsor I have chosen to promote doesnt allow you to use your own content to promote their site. And this is actually the same with alot of sponsors I looked over. They want the person joining their site to be able to view the model on the gallery, inside the members area. Im sure it helps retention and keeps charge-backs low.

When I registered my adult domains, one for my link list the other for my free sites, I chose to keep my whois information private. I read a post last week where a link list owner told a newbie submitter that, because their whois info was private, that they probably wouldnt get listed at alot of sites. I didnt consider that link list owners wouldnt list my sites because of my private whois information. Is this a big problem or will I be ok as long as I follow all the rules that are actually posted on the submit pages?

Ok, so here are my questions.

1.) will I be ok using sponsor content? I chose a sponsor that doesnt appear to be promoted too much and the pictures are very good quality.

2.) will I be ok with my private whois information?

3.) I am a complete newbie to this and I have about a snowballs chance in hell of getting a partner submit account at alot of the link lists. Noone knows my name and I dont have any sites listed anywhere right now. If you have your own link list and would like some submissions could you please post your url and I will add you to my list.

Thats all the questions I have right now. Im about 1/4 done building my first free site and Ill post for reviews in a different thread when its completed.

Thanks,
WB

1. Very few LLs that I know of have a no exeptions rule against sponsor content. If the sponsor you use is underpromoted you shouldn't have a problem. Otherwise grab new content and use it right away while it is still fresh. If it hasn't been seen a lot, you should still be OK.

2. Private whois will be a problem for many.

3. Partner accounts aren't as common in the LL world (yet?) as in the TGP world. There are plenty of "open" LLs to submit to.

I think thats sorta funny in a way. I paid the extra few bucks to make it private when I could have simply lied and gotten the same effect for free Sort of a funny rule I think but... their sites, their rules.

I cant figure out why anyone would need my whois information? Maybe they plan on stopping by the house and saying hi

Well, the thing is when you submit your site to a LL you're asking to do business with the owner. I for one like to know who I'm doing business with. Of course you can lie about anything, but having your info publicly available at least gives some reassurance that you're on the straight and narrow (this may be a bad assumption to make, since cheaters are of course the worst liars of all).

In another thread on the same subject I saw a very good analogy: Would you do business in the brick and mortar world with someone who kept his identity a secret?

I wont argue about it because thems the rules. I can live with it. I will submit everywhere, get listed wherever I can, and eventually build up a good reputation for myself. I can garauntee the sites that list me 100% effort towards quality and no funny business. Hell, Ill even give them my real name if they ask. But I wont ever make that information available to the general public. When I was registering I figured that alot of adult webmasters had private whois information. I certainly wouldnt want anyone in this little town knowing I have an adult site. At least not until Im making some good money from it

Now that Im a bit more experienced with this whole thing I can see the point - to a point. If we lived in a more perfect world cheaters would all use their real names and info when registering domains. But I think if someone is going to scam they wouldnt go and get private whois information... that costs extra dammit! lol. Its supposed to be better |badidea|

This subject comes up every few weeks it seems.

And every new free site builder has pretty much the same reasons. As has been said so many times in the past, if you're that concerned about being involved in this business...it might be worth a re-think about getting involved in this business. Your choice of course

However, you will find that a lot of link sites will instantly decline your submissions based solely on that private whois...no matter how clean your sites may look.

I'm sure glad you posted that.

Reading words online, sometimes it's hard to be sure how someone means something. But having been here a little while, I can assure you that while MrYum may have been smiling and shaking his head a bit as he typed the "good luck man...I got a hunch you're gonna need it" part, he was not feeling smug or trying to be hurtful. In fact, I'd say he's gone out of his way to be helpful in this thread, as he does very often on this board.

WarBot, I can see you have a lot of things going for you, many of which should lead to success in the adult biz world. One thing I'll caution you about, however, is that this biz is a pretty small world. And like with other small worlds, it can take a bit of time to be accepted by those already living in it. Denigrating a respected and well-established member of the community probably wasn't going to help much with that.

I hope you'll take the advice you've been offered, and that you do well with your new adult business, WarBot. In part because if you do have success with it, one day you'll probably try to offer some helpful advice based on your actual experiences to someone new on an adult webmaster board. And then that person will completely misread what your intention was, and he'll tell you how you're being smug and hurtful and that you've lowered his opinion of you.

Right about then you'll know how MrYum probably felt when he read your first post of this morning. Fortunately, I don't think that will knock him off his usual willing-to-help position on most things. And hopefully, if and when it happens to you, it won't knock you off of yours either.

Simon
