Sunday August 9th (aka The Start Of Another Fucking Week)

Morning!

The Bitch is outside weeding the flower bed. My motto? "Grass To The House!" She won't let me go out & help due to my back, so instead of sitting on the couch feeling guilty, I decided to work.

I re-watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo yesterday - what a great fucking movie!! Too bad there's nothing in the works for an English version of the next 2 movies (I HATE subtitles)

I did sell my Nirvana Box Set on eBay yesterday for $339 I was really worried when there were 2 min left & I had no bids with 7 legit people "watching" it, but someone came thru. Should net $300 after fees & shipping, which is sweet seeing as my buddy gave it to me as a gift about 20 years ago

Other than that, back to eBay I go...

Helped a friend move yesterday so no work done.
Today I hope to update my plugin documentation and add some tutorials.

Ahh yes, Sunday. The day before the start of another week. Up early, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the coffee is brewing, and the neighbor is running a power saw every few minutes.

It's the kind of day you want to step outside and take a flamethrower to something.


Okay an hour later it's mercifully qiet again. Had a nice feed of waffles and maple syrup (the real stuff, from Quebec), fresh strawberries, and about half a pot of coffee. Watched the movie Reign of Fire, PVR'd from the Space Channel last night. I must've been busy in 2002 because I didn't even know this movie existed until last night. Sci-fi post-apocalyptic stuff with dragons, wasn't too bad.

I have writing to do but I think I'll just enjoy the day. Work is for Monday.


Edit; just as I hit 'submit' he fired up his fucking saw again. Where's my flamethrower?....

I know, that totally sucks! Those movies are great and with no english version in the works I may need to watch the others. I first watched that Sweedish version not knowing it was sub-titles ALL the way through

Still recovering from eating too much and getting cooked into sun at yesterday's beach party.

Go a phone call a few minutes ago from the mother of my friend that I had found dead. She wanted to know why she couldn't get ahold of her and if I knew where she was. So I ended being the one that had to tell her that her daughter was dead, not knowing that the family had never told her. The mother is 98 years old.

Just got home from running some errands. I've had enough drama for the day so going to try to find something to watch and just chill.

Bloody awful day.

Proof that the building I live in is shit:

During the week the police called to search several apartments in the building. While they were here they decided that the building was not "fit for human habitation" and reported the landlord to the authorities who regulate this sort of thing.

The landlord turned up today with an idiot who spoke little English, to deal with it. First thing he told the idiot to do was tidy the garden. He took this to mean "Take away the resident's window boxes and burn them." So away went my (fairly recently) replanted boxes and some plants I have spent THREE YEARS getting to maturity.

And his idea of gardening? Rip up everything. And I mean everything! There used to be a mature rose tree outside my window, it has been here longer than me (and I've been here about 15 years). That has gone. There used to be a lawn outside the house too. He ripped that up as well. Now all we have in front of the house is mud and bins! It did not look good before, it looks horrible now!

It will get worse. The landlord tells me that he is going to have to get workmen in to fix the place up. He intends to dump a porta-toilet outside my window for them to use, and outside the other window - a skip.

To add insult to injury: While surveying the damage I trod in dog shit, did not notice, and walked it all over the apartment before I discovered this. Took me forever to clean up, and the place still stinks!

Arrrrrgh. I have to move!

Mentioned this post as a counter-argument to a friend who is a big fan of the original (sub titled) movies and thinks re-making them in English is sacrilege. There suggestion was "Read the books, they have all been translated into English, and there is a lot more story in the book than in the films."
