Registering adult domains with paypal

Would registering adult domain names with paypal be considered an adult purchase?
It's hard to say with those backwards cunts.
I doubt they would ever know, unless they make the registarars disclose details about the purchase. I don't know.

It's the registrar that likely to be "saved from buyer fraud" by having his money taken not you. I've been accepting PayPal for domain registrations and sales, and PayPal reversed a transaction for $200 on me. They removed the money from my account because they wanted to "save me from buyer fraud", and it was a cleared funds transaction - so there couldn't be a fraud issue if they did their job properly.

Can anyone tell me how taking money from a seller will protect him from buyer fraud? It's a good job that I didn't trust them and took the money out as soon as it went in. Anyway, I'm now taking Money Bookers.

Honestly, I would avoid using PayPal for anything even remotely adult in any way.

About a year ago my PayPal account was suspended. I figured I'd slipped...no. My account was suspended because on my MAINSTREAM ezine, I was accepting PayPal donations and also advertising, via LinkShare, the Eroscillator. (Ironically, LinkShare doesn't - or at least, didn't when I signed up - accept advertising on adult sites. So yeah, I could sell a turbo-vibrator, but only on a mainstream site.)

I went back and forth with a PayPal rep for a while, and received the typical, robotic responses. Eventually I managed to track down an Ebay liaison who was able to get the account unlocked.

Anyway, point is, you don't even have to knowingly violate the TOS - you may find yourself suspended. If you use PayPal in your mainstream business, be very, VERY careful about any crossover.

There are actually two PayPals at the moment. An American one that got fined for stealing and ordered to pay a few million dollars in compensation, and a UK one that some people believe was set up to try to avoid paying some of the compensation. I'm with the UK one so I can take them to the FSA and the English trading standards board. They are now threating to take me to court to clear my "negative" balance which should be fun. I think I'll start a blog about it and get some w/m traffic.

They are also expecting me to pay a high price revshare telephone support number to try to "resolve" the solution. Has anyone got a premium rate number I can use for a while to get them to phone me.

Head Boy- can you give me a link to details on the US case, as I am about to start proceedings against the European division for a similar thing.

Also, are you sure about "so I can take them to the FSA and the English trading standards board." because they are based in Northern Ireland and not all British laws apply over there (as I am finding out, at great expense).

I've been using my PayPal account for adult domain purchases from Ev1servers and Namecheap for quite a long time (and still do).

No problems thus far.

They created the negative balance, not you. You can't take money out if it's not there. Fuck those fucking fuckers.

I'm with Mishi. I wouldn't do it.

If you've done it and nothing has happened n the past, I'd call yourself lucky, and wouldn't do it again. Just my two cents.

The are regulated by the FSA in the UK. I reported them to trading standards before they fled the US, and had quite a long talk with a guy there. It seems they were under investigation by the EU, but I guess that got dropped when they moved to Ireland.

Let me know if I can do anything to help. At the moment the onus is on them to start something as I moved my money out before they could get to it. It's much cheaper and easier to defend and counterclaim than it is to start an action, so I'll probably run with emails for a while. I've also pointed out to them that now that my account is unusable, I'm having to try to persuade my suppliers to accept alternatives, and I've already convinced one to add Money Bookers.

This is the PayPal settlement website, there may be some useful links on there.

I'm in Hampshire if you want to phone me to help, although my stuff is pretty small beer. I did report them for misleading advertising a while ago though.

Thanks for the info. The point I am at at the moment is that I have just sent them a 28 days notice letter (giving them 28 days to hand over the money or I sue), which is necessary if I want to also claim expenses from them. I am hoping that they pay in that time, but if they do not it is a small enough amount that I can use the small claims court against them, so it won't be a big deal. However I am angry enough (and petty enough) that I will make a big deal out of it, by informing the UK press and as much of the world media that I can find contacts for. If it is a slow news day it should get reasonable coverage, but if something major happens it will probably not even get a mention.

I'm not sure if I've got any grounds to claim as I didn't lose any actual cash. I have a policy of sending any money in my PayPal account to my domain registrar within 10 minutes of it's arrival. I reckoned it was better there even if it took me a month or so to use it. I also had a personal account, so I didn't pay any charges (except to my registrar). It's a minor inconvenience not to have a PP account any more, but I guess they are within their rights to close it for no reason at all if they want to.

If it helps with your case, I'll put up a page explaining what happened to me. You're welcome to submit that to the court as supporting evidence.

In fact, maybe I'll throw the story onto a site anyway. It could get me a few webmaster signups. I guess I'd better not put it on a site like www.PervertedLesbians.com or one of my fist fucking sites.

RE: "In fact, maybe I'll throw the story onto a site anyway. It could get me a few webmaster signups." - Yes, a lot of people use problems with Paypal as a way of getting SE hits. When I started looking into Paypal for info to help my case I did a search on Google and there are a hell of a lot of "Paypal are useless" type sites which were either created by card processors who (surprise surprise) recommend their own services as an alternative, or are created by webmasters who then supply links to credit card processors or alternate companies who provide a Paypal like service, and (again surprise surprise) have referral codes in the links.

Sounds as if I should start a new trend. I'm sure I've got an oral sponsor for a paypal sucks site, or maybe it should be a fucking machines one.

Also apologies to ADK for hijacking his thread - sorry.

I actually own Jet Cash but I hesitated to use that for the reasons that ecchi gave.

(and I know I must stop spamming my domains before I get a slap. ).
