Thursday September 10th (aka Are You Ready For Some Football?!)

Morning!

I actually feel almost normal... well, normal for me anyway. Maybe this sickness has subsided?

My last 2 days have basically been updating LOR, checking in here, then binge watching all 9 hours of Dragon Tattoo Trilogy: Extended Edition (the original version with subtitles) It was very good & worth watching, but I can see why Parts 2 & 3 have never been redone in English, because Part 1 was the best of the 3 (and 2 & 3 are kinda the same plotline).

I also watched Marvel's The Avengers: Age Of Ultron... twice

Anyway, working now & have to run to the bank, pharmacy, and chiropractor later today - will be nice to get out of the house

Odd that it's called football since it isn't a ball and is mostly held in the hands.

Work, gym, more work, and for this evening I have a choice of the neighborhood monthly meeting or a Meetup movie night or lady's night at the local pub. All three are at the same time so can't do all three.

Good day

Back from LA and tired as hell. I fucking hate United Airlines. I booked with Air Canada using my points and as my profile says I prefer a window seat. Well the return flight was with United (Star Alliance group airline thingy) and I show up, no seat set. I check in get to gate and she says you have a middle seat and there's no other seats available. Total bullshit.

Needless to say a red eye in the middle seat I didn't really sleep so pretty tired right now but working. Hoping to catch some of the NFL game tonight, might need a nap but not really a nap guy.

Off for the weekend, leaving about 11:30 tomorrow morning, spending the weekend with my father, then back Sunday night. Travelling by coach, because the train service to where my father lives, sucks.

Kinda answered your own question there. If the first is the best, and the next two are samo-samo, why bother?
(My sister will kill me if she reads that, she is a big fan of all three).

Originally the game was played with a ball and only kicked. Then some preppy cheat picked up the ball and carried it, and a new game was invented where cheating was allowed. When this new cheat's game went to America, Americans wanted to back pass, which is against the rules, so they started cheating at a game that was already cheating. Thus the game developed into what only Americans call football. (No idea how the ball became sort of egg shaped thought).

If you want to see a game called football which is played by kicking a real ball with the feet, look for the game that every fucking country on the planet except America calls football!

It's that shape because it was originally an inflated pig's bladder which is also why it's called a pigskin.

I just call it that annoying thing playing on the TV.

Good Night

Did not want to start the morning thread since it's 9-11 and thought someone else can do that better.

Been a frustrating 24 hrs as our 70 year old electrical system gave out. Sub panel in the house lost both phases leaving us no power and somehow killed 1 bank in the main. Emergency electrician came out, told us we were fucked and was at least able to connect an extension cord to the direct power line outside. Both of our panels needed to be replaced with upgraded units that have a cost that was like an unexpected kick in the nuts. Got back to about 90% power earlier tonight with the sub panel indoors replaced and lines still hooked to most of the old outdoor panel. They will be back in the morning, shut off all power again for the day and hopefully finish installing the outdoor panel and move all lines over. Of course we are going thru a scorcher and the bedroom was 90F when we wet to bed while during the day was registering 96F and expected to be very similar Friday. Only good news from this is that when I'm ready to get central air/heat and add solar this new system will handle with no problems.

F me the wife has informed me the bedroom is 87F. Sure hope they finish everything so we can use the portable ac's tomorrow.

Now it's time for bed and hopefully sleep

Then I'm guessing that the egg shaped thing is the original, and the ball shaped thing used in real football is a newer innovation!

Although in England we have a traditional dance that involves an inflated pig bladder (don't ask) and although it is decades since I have ever watched it performed, I'm sure the bladder was nearer ball shaped than that thing on an American football pitch (not quite round, but nearer round).
