Yeah, I'm not talking at all about this being a money making deal. All I want to do is to educate the surfer. I don't think a popup is going to do the job. If they have zango installed, they are used to popups already. They were probably used to them before. This has to be a big surprise to them. Like I said, with zango installed, you are not going to make money from them anyway...so why not redirect them to a page that explains what has been done to them. Linkster, I have seen the same list of adware programs out there. So, we need to let them know that all cookies are not bad cookies. There is plenty of good software out there that will allow non-malicious cookies to be installed while stopping adware programs.

Right now, the issue is zango. We have a step by step guide on how to remove zango here.

Delete registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\zanu
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Zango [application name]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{E5B57AB3-15F8-43A2-ABAC-3E58A9C25818}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{21B4ACC4-8874-4AEC-AEAC-F567A249B4D4}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS Autodial\Control\LoginSessionDisable=1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\[game name]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Zango [application name]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\zanu
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\zanuHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\zanu
Help: how to remove registry entries

Delete files:
installershell.exe, zangoinstaller.exe, zanu.exe

Delete directories:
C:\Program Files\ZangoClient
C:\Program Files\Zango Applications
C:\Program Files\Zango Games
C:\Documents and Settings\[Current User]\Application Data\Zango [application name]
C:\Documents and Settings\[Current User]\Start Menu\Programs\Zango
C:\Documents and Settings\[Current User]\Start Menu\Programs\Zango Games

Misc:
[application name] is a name of a program installed by ZangoSearch.
[game name] is a name of a computer game installed by ZangoSearch.

We can just put those instructions on a page and offer unpaid links to good anti adware software. We can even have a single hosted page on it's own domain someplace that everyone trusts with a cool Anti-Zango and a circle with a line across it. And then at the bottom of the page, a "Back to the Page You Were On" link.

As other adware programs pop up that hurt this business, we can add the same type of pages that will give instructions again.

Above all, like most things...education is the key to this problem.

Now, if some programmer can come up with a way to do this with software that can be easily edited when the time is needed for other software, that would be great.
