I think I'll have a play with both scripts today. I don't think the price of phpbazar can be beat, so it already has that in its favor. In the end, the one with the best member-retaining features will come out on top. Anyway -- thanks for your info about aewebworks. I love hearing impartial views about products - especially when the products cost 700 dollars!
