Unhappy Tuesday 21st October - And Ecchi is about to start a week of the hell that Cleo suffers every day of her life!

Over the past couple of weeks I have eaten too much fat. Lots of steaks, lots of pork, lots of fried chicken. I decided I need a low fat week. Sadly the only really low fat recipes I know are vegetarian recipes, so I have a week of vegetarian eating ahead of me.

Last night I filled my cupboards with minced soya, quorn, and three types of lentils. For evenings when I fancy something quick I bought a pile of Asian vegetarian ready meals with weird sounding names; Surti Undhiu, Palak Paneer, Shahi Rajma and Tadka Dal (I'm sure at least one of those was in a Star Wars movie). And now I have a week of vegetarian hell ahead of me.

Not that I am entirely against vegetarian food. I always have several kinds of lentils in the cupboard (although these are often used in meat stews and meat based soups) and I have a vegetarian dinner about once a week. But a whole week of vegetarian meals??? That is proof that there is a god, and He is making me pay for my sins.

It won't be 100% vegetarian. I'll still have meat in my lunchtime sandwiches, although this is only because I share them with a dog and he would hate it if I made vegetarian sandwiches (seriously - I had tomato and lettuce sandwiches once, tossed him his share, he promptly caught it then spat it out again and stared at me with a look on his face as though I'd just kicked him in the balls). I'll also use beef stock occasionally (lentils and soya taste a lot better if you flavour them with meat juices).

But other than that, vegetarian hell for a whole week.
