I wasn't even born when he was elected in 1952, but I was always interested in the story of how someone not affiliated with either party, and with a stated disinterest in politics, wound up becoming president because he was called on to do so by the people. I've long believed that one of the things which should disqualify someone from being president is any desire to be president. Same with most political positions. People should be drafted to serve and no one should be allowed to 'make a career' of politics.

Just one more way I'm twisted.
