I voted left (damn my politics

) but that is assuming you thin the page to fit. It needs to be "less fixed" if you are going to add more columns. At the moment those fat banners force it too wide for an extra column. Make the size a percentage of the width instead of fixed eg:

Simple but effective.

Also, the right column is for good sponsor ads, not for housekeeping or menus. You get most clicks in the right column.
