I wouldnt get to concerned about what youre seeing update on the toolbar or those "check your PR" sites - these are old numbers (around 3 months old normally when they update the toolbar) and do not reflect your current real PR. Just another nice thing Google does for you

Preacher - although I know Ive said it many times - I wouldnt even consider trading links with someone if they based it (or even mentioned PR) on the toolbar

Basing trades on pr value is obviously silly, and indicates a mind trapped in 2003, or at least someone not up to date.
I don't think mentioning it is a problem. It does at least indicate that google has seen and spidered the site, even if the number itself is a fiction. But then, I would say that, since I have mentioned pr numbers in trade offers, and expect to do so in the future. I know that a lot of people are still obsessed with pr, so I figure it provides a bit of social lubricant. |
