I hate that too. Also the anti-robot security codes that are impossible to read and are over five characters. (See Yahoo groups) Does it really need to be that hard? I have 20/20 vision and I can't even read that mess! It takes three tries just to get it right!

Shouldn't four characters be enough? I mean what are the odds that a machine will be able to correctly guess the security code anyway? Let's see!

36 chars (alphanumeric) * 36 * 36 * 36 == 36 ^ 4

== 1,679, 616

So 1: 1, 679,616! WHY is that not good enough for them? What are they protecting nuclear secrets? Six character security codes! Come on already!

And if you are going to do obscured security codes that can hardly be read, perhaps it would be a good idea to avoid using a font where "1" and "l" look the same? Or maybe to forgo using those characters at all in your code in the first place? Why do we have to spend five minutes of our lives guessing because your billion dollar company is incompetant? If you have guys from MIT there, why can't they figure this out??!!!?
