Useless, the shift to HD in the US is pretty much on track for 2008 or so. After that, the analog channels will be killed off and all that bandwidth sold off.

The sales of HD tv's is taking off, and as a result the prices of the sets are coming down very quickly indeed. The ED sets (which are actually medium-D, not truly full HD, as they only show 852x480 or something) are getting cheaper:

I would venture to say that by Christmas 2006, there will be decent sets on the market well under $1000... and by Christmas 2007, that number will again drop likely near the $700 range. Regular-D TVs are now in major selloff mode at places like Walmart, because they know these things are all but worthless now, as they working life span is much longer than available programming will last. Why buy something with a 5 year warrantee when you will only be able to receive a signal on it for 3?

The shift is on bigtime.
