I used to have a propane based system. And, it was a lot like beetle traps for roses. It killed a lot of mosquitoes but, it attracted a lot more than we would have normally had. So, it did make the area around the system mosquito free but just outside of the area, there were a ton of them ready to feed. Same with the beetle traps for roses. For those though, it attracted a bunch of beetles that either went to the trap or the roses.
