If you are questioning it have someone signup or signup yourself and test it out. That's what I'd do if I was really wondering about a sponsor.

Let them know you were just testing something if you feel really guilty. Signup under a revshare link and not tell them. If they say anything be like you were reviewing the members area to better promote the program.
