Hold down Command V on reboot to see what is actually going on when booting. Also try holding down the Shift Key when booting to boot into safe mode. |

Always a good idea to have a second admin account on the computer. Personally I always enable a root account. Then if I'm having issues I can boot into root and do things like delete all my caches or just about anything since a root account has compete access to do anything to any account. Also show all hidden files is sometimes helpful. 10.9 Code:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE Code:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE |
