We still use TGPx and LinkAdmin because they have been in use on our lists for several years. My install goes back to 2012 and I know Greenie's Link Admin is much older. (His Sunshine Lesbians is also older than mine). Now, if they had continued to update the link list/TGP programs there would be no issue. Some have stepped forward and helped us make the minor changes on TGPx for the newer operating systems and servers. I think the total changes I made to Porn Luv's master files covered less than 100 keystrokes over 5 different files so it is not seriously broken. Newer scripts are all directed at tubes, which we are not. TGPx can be cranky at times but it does work even in our "modern" environment. It is still much newer than XP, which came out in 2001. I bought my TGPx from the original developer in 2011 and it was current for its time.
I am not a programmer or coder, though I do write all my HTML by hand in Notepad and know my way around php. I don't pretend to be one either. Would I try to write a script like this? No. I know my limits. I want things to work within a reasonable time (like a week) without getting nasty notes from my host. Not all webhosts like to deal with these scripts and do put up obstacles like not letting you create databases or add users. We got around that part and learned to deal with the rest. Even with all the bumps, PornLuv was up and having galleries loaded in just about 2 weeks (including waiting on trouble tickets, 3 server moves, and research).

Get Porn Links has now been added to the Porn Luv network and all pages are random pull from database.
More site to be added soon, I hope |

And the only time I have ever had a script do really bad things it was a bought script. I had a "email your friends and tell them about this site" script on one of my non-adult sites. Because it was a commercially available script, someone had bought a copy and disassemble it to work out how to use it to send spam. They then set up their own program to spam people via my website, the host got spam complaints and, assuming it was me doing the spamming, disabled the entire domain. That finally put me off ever using bought scripts again. The extra work writing the script myself is worth it for the peace of mind in knowing that won't happen again. P.S. It is so long since we've had a two page thread, I did not see these posts until just now. Didn't think to look for page two! |

Heads Up
Was going to PM this, but not sure which one of you I should PM it to, so I'll post it here where you can both read it:
Cleaning up the "babes" page on ClitPass I came across a link exchange to getpornlinks.com/babes/. This is a non-existent page that probably got chucked out when you revamped the site. However when I clicked on it, instead of getting caught up and redirected to your index page (or whatever you do with 404s), I got sent to the server's "not found" message. You have probably got a hell of a lot of exchange links going to pages that disappeared during the revamp, not setting your 404 to your index page is costing you a lot of traffic. Setting a "catch all" should be easy, if your host is any good you can just set it in your control panel. And if your host is not that good, I'm told it is easy to do yourself (no idea how, I never had to learn as my host has that control panel thing, but I'm betting Cleo will know, she seems to be the most tech savvy round here). Incidentally G, normally I would offer to correct the link and leave it (as we have done with other sites). But as JR is involved in this site and he deliberately destroyed over 50% of the traffic to ClitPass I'd be stupid to say "Hey, in exchange for killing more than half of my traffic, why don't I send you some of what is left?" So sorry, not this one. |

One thing that hurt my sites badly was not doing regular daily updates as well as not actively submitting free sites or galleries. For 14 months, I sat in a classroom all day every day and didn't have time or energy to think about porn. Then there is the vertigo that keeps me from working at the computer full time. It seems to be taking a break right now fortunately. Still, my sites NEVER went offline, but they got stale. It took me a few more months to shake all that off and get back to work. Did I lose traffic because a few people went out of business or pulled a reciprocal hard link? I highly doubt it. *We* care about those things, but I really and truly doubt our visitors do. I believe I lost so much because of my inactivity more than anything else. I didn't have a tasty treat listed every day in the New Listings sections anywhere. Tommy always had the very best traffic, but I never had a hard link with him. My traffic from him was from my submits. I do believe PC also submitted sites to him - we all did. Trust me, if I could blame my network's downfall on anyone else, I would do that in a heartbeat. So, as I tell my husband, we can't change the past only learn from it. I decided my network gets at least 20 new listings daily, usually close to double that. I am trying to get my submits (anywhere) up to 4 a week outside my network and at least daily on my own. I figure by the end of the year, I will be back where I want to be. People will see that my network is actively growing and want to visit often. Clean -- Build -- Submit. Look forward Not Backward.

I took over ClitPass and there were a lot of problems. (corrupt scripts being the worst). I was posting on this board about the problems I was having. Then one day the script totally fucked up and the site went 404 for a while. JR discovered this, and rather that PMing me about it, as you or I or any decent webmaster would do, he posted on this board telling everyone to remove their links to ClitPass. People listen to JR. Not only did exchange links go, but links on galleries too. Within 48 hours traffic had dropped by over 50%. You might think that is an "amazing coincidence", and JR just happened to speak the day before 50% of the world decided to stop surfing for free porn, but I doubt that strongly. It was a childish and vindictive act on JR's part to publicly post that. Particularly as he knew I was working on it. I can accept him not bothering to PM me to tell me the site was down, but to post a message telling people to rip out my recips was simply inexcusable. I would never do such a thing, and I doubt you would. And the result was, as I said, a drop of over 50% of the traffic in under 48 hours. The traffic has never recovered. So I ask you, you are currently struggling to get your site back up there again at the moment. How would you feel if one of us deliberately sabotaged your attempts? |

Actually, I was here when that all happened and did follow it. I didn't remove any of my links, including any of the interior ones that I had until AFTER you came back and had pretty serious scripting issues. Broken links or links that go to "dead" sites don't do anyone any good ever. When I choose to hard link to someone, it is because I believe their site is worthwhile for my visitors, not because I like them or anything else. If your site is not working month after month after month, you are no good to me at all. In fact, keeping your links up damages my reputation. I don't blame anyone here for removing links to a non-functional website. They can be restored at a later time. Who knew if you would ever come back???
Cleo, JR, and a few others removed links to mine when I didn't update regularly. I can't blame them for the exact same reason. You also forget this industry has gone through a lot of change in the last 2 years. People want instant porn and instant gratification. If your site doesn't deliver, they leave. Google also changes their rules for ranking almost as often as men change their underwear. THAT hurts a lot of us on a regular basis. (I had a PR6 shopping mall drop to 0 after I didn't have time to deal with it any more... and my joke site is slipping as well.) PC had an outstanding reputation for daily updates across his entire network. Most likely, the staleness of the site, if it was even up, hurt you just like it hurt me. My point was, you have limited time and energy to work with your sites (I am the same way). I could spend all those precious assets crying about the dropped traffic or... I could move on. I have chosen to move on. Those that had hard links to me and chose to remove them -- that's their business. Most of those sites are dead now anyway. Others that removed reciprocated interior links -- same thing. (And I had tnose on a number of sites). I am spending my time looking forward, not back.

My point is not that her removed his links (he had every right to do that), but that he vindictively told everyone else to remove their's. There is a big difference. Yes, traffic is down all over, and I would have lost some traffic anyway. But that does not excuse JR deliberately crashing my traffic by telling other people to drop my links. That was just plain meanness.

vindictively? That's a strong word. Also, my memory is shot - can you post a link to the thread where he did this?
Then I shall make a ruling & it will be done with once & for all. After all, I am around here! |

Believe me, it is less strong than the one I want to use.
I haven't checked, but I think the conversation went over several boards, including one I can't link to from here. Sorry, don't believe in . |

Wait! 1st off, what board can't you link to from here? I don't think I have anything banned from being posted (but again, memory issues)
2nd, I was sent the threads in question & based on what I saw, it was a legit honest mistake on JR's part that turned into a clusterfuck. I know JR very well & I'd bet my house (really, it's all I have left lol) that his post was not even close to vindictive because I can't see where he was trying to get revenge on you for something. Quote:
Here's how I see it: 1 - JR fucked up. 2 - You didn't address the thread where JR fucked up (for a month anyhow) instead starting a new thread. 3 - JR apologized - and in a manner that one would think would make you: A. Know it was an honest mistake. B. Smile (Dr Who & whatnot) 4 - Clitpass was down for MONTHS. Regardless of if JR posted what he did or not, your links were getting pulled. You can't possibly tell me you'd knowingly leave up a dead link not knowing when or if the site was coming back. That's just stupid & poor webmastering, especially for those that link to sites/pages for a living. Like I told you about me pulling your links: my linkchecker told me your site was dead. BOOM! Deleted. Gone. In the wind. Can't have the few surfers I have left clicking on dead links & getting annoyed. I'd also bet that you lost most, if not all of your Google traffic when the site was down &/or redirecting. JR's fault? Let me say this one more time & bold it: Regardless of if JR posted what he did or not, your links were getting pulled. I suggest you either get over it & move on or never mention it again. There's 7 people that post here & I'm not gonna have 2 of them going on with, what in all honesty, is nonsense. does exist, he just takes the shape of a lil green finger flipper on this message board My 2 cents (which is really about 3 cents since I own the place ) |

Wow, you go drinking with old friends and spend a day all hung over and come back to this, jeez.
I don't need Pagan or Greenie to fight my battles but I thank them for saying what they did If I remember correctly, and I'm old sooooo, is that when this all happened you and PC had been trying to transfer the domains with no success at all. I believe nothing had been talked about for a bit and then someone questioned about Clitpass. I said, I believe that it's dead. (btw, nobody listens to me) I did not go around saying everybody pull all your links because ecchi now owns this, for that would be vindictive. Sorta like you constantly blaming me in an effort to give me a bad name for the failures that happened between you and pc, that's vindictive! I apologized, TWICE, because I was honestly sorry about this and yet you cannot accept it. So be it. |

I haven't got time to find the exact post, but you said something along the lines of "Time to pull the links [to ClitPass]." Quote:
You will also note that I have, over the intervening year, not held it as a reason to withhold conversation with JR. Conversation on this board is not excessive, most people (including me) just post what they have done without commenting on other people's posts. But when I have conversed, I have conversed as much with JR as anyone else (if memory serves, the last time was over a trip to see dinosaurs). And I will continue so to do. However you cannot expect me to "forgive and forget". I was having a bad time at that point. My (as everyone's) online business was making less every day. My offline job was likely to die. My friend with the dogs had decided to move, which would mean I would never see the dogs again. And a doctor had told me that I was about to experience serious medical problems that would ruin my lifestyle and last the rest of my life, but that ain't as bad as it sounds, because "the rest of my life" was not going to be anywhere near as long as I previously thought it would be. On top of this, ClitPass, which was supposed to be an easy pass over had become a nightmare leading to me working over a hundred hours a week. JR was aware of this as I tend to post TMI on the board, but still he decided to stab me in the back and post that people should pull their links, with very effective results. Just what I needed at that time, another reason to step in front of a bus (believe me, there have been several days in the past year or so when I have seriously considered that). And to make matters worse, JR was someone I considered a friend (damn it, he is a fellow Whovian, for God's sake), to do something like that was a "let down" as well as a financial pain when I needed it least. Then to rub salt into my wounds his comment that it was all my fault because I had not seen his post earlier. Like I should scan this entire board every day to seek out "His divine word". Look at it from my side. You were away from this board for a long time, people dropped out and stopped posting. Because I consider you a friend I posted several threads trying to encourage people to post (and occasionally threatened them). How would you have felt if, instead, you came back and found that I had posted "This board is dead, we should all leave it and go over to GFY." Well, I considered JR a friend too, and instead of PMing me to say "Heads up, your site is down" he posted to say "Ecchi's site is down, let's all delete his links and bury him further in the shit." (I paraphrase.) So yes, I will be civil, and no, I won't mention this unless it is absolutely necessary. But don't expect me to "get over it & move on". And although I accept it is your right to do so, and understand why you did it, locking me out of other places because of my post is only going to add to the strikes against JR. Ecchi,
This will be the last time I mention this. Read the following with a tone of compassion because that is how it's suppose to be read. You may be right in that I stated pull the links. I don't remember because as you know I was going through my own personal issues. I did apologize, yes I mentioned you should of saw the thread not because it was all your fault but own part of the blame for it is your site. I also said that if I had the I'd go back in time and do things differently. Yes, I considered you an okay guy and had no hard feelings towards you at all. So when I stated whatever I stated it was made with no malicious intent. Someone probably should of PM'd you and nobody did. I accept that I did not and that was an error on my part. Believe I said this before but maybe not. Memory and personal issues have the last year and half sort of foggy. As for the certain lock out, don't blame me or put it on my shoulders. I don't have that power and when asked what I think, I said I didn't think you should be. Now, I understand that your were hurt by all this but you gotta let it go. I made an honest mistake that was not intentional. I thought the site was dead because I would have moved on. To prove that, Greenie and I purchased Jack Daniels sites a long ways back. A script was suppose to come in that dragged on and on. I felt so bad about this I told Greenie he can just have the sites to sell off and keep proceeds because I was the one that knew the guy that didn't come thru. He said no, we'll figure something out and the sites ran with all of Jack Daniels links and hosted galleries on them for years. We just got them going, this thread should be a clue. |
