If it talks, it walks...
Hey guys,
I've read this somewhere on some LL, don't remeber which one. I suppse it has something to do with applying sound to the page. My question is - if I create multimedia flash banners, that have sound on hover, how many of you are going to reject me?

Sound on hover is borderline - it depends on the sound, amount of sound, volume, if it stops if you stop hovering, or if it is a loop that keeps going. It also depends on the size of the banner - if the banner is unavoidable (ie: 700 X 100 would mean that almost 100% of people would pull their mouse over it) then it is a reject.
Sound on banners annoys me... I can't imagine what it does to surfers in general. Alex |

Cleo is definitly one that will reject you for sound/voice from your sites banners etc., as will most other people.
Unless it's beaing used on webmasters resource sites and the like, I never really understood the need for it elsewheres. It tends to scare the crap out of anyone mouseing over them with their sound turned up, not expecting it.

Web pages should not make sound unless the user expects it to make a sound.
Vids have sound, music sites have sound, ads and web sites in general should never make sound. Instant reject at my place. |

In addition to all that, I can tell you that from testing I have done, flash banners don't really seem to pull all that much better than regular animated gif banners. If anything, you take a bigger risk that various filtering programs might not allow your flash to be seen, or will require some action from the user before they see it. That really isn't good for getting people to click.
The best uses of flash I have seen are things integrated into the site design of sales pages to make the sites look more "alive". I have not seen many good uses in free sites. Alex |

Whoo! 9/10 the way to buddy plays in "The Christ from Oz"!

IMO a lot of ppl looking at p0rn feel that they shouldnt be (or just plain shouldnt, ie at work) so they don't want sounds blasting out by accident, attracting the attention of anyone else in the room. "Hi Mum Yes I am looking at gay guys with huge cocks, would you like to join me?"
