Opinions on code:text

Does the ratio of "real" text to html code factor as a very important SE consideration?

Looking at some peoples html tabled recip codes brought that question to mind because text volume versus html code volume has been something on my mind lately.

I've heard it said that if a page has more real readable text than html code, it it's considered to be "better" than an identical *looking* page which has more html code than readable text.

This is why sometimes I'd prefer a graphic button with a short alt tag than a non-graphic piece of code that takes up the same physical area on a page, yet uses 15 times more html code...

Anyone else think of these odd things and form an opinion? |goodnight

Porn Meister,

What you state is vitally important, but ignored by all and sundry..

The addition of mutiple 'category recips' to the index page of a site totally messes with the keyword balance/density, the prime keywords used, and with the K size of the page....

All of these things can "mess" with whatever SE work you may have done for the page.

AH yeah.. ok great input thank you.. That pretty much follows with the various things I've read about text and code.

I like the idea of having a relevant link off the page, but I do think it's an often overlooked thing once you get a bunch of recips.

I know the last free site I did had more html code just for recips than for the entire rest of the page.

I try to trim them down a little, but people like 'em how they made 'em, so usually I limit it to removing all the whitespace before the first "<" per line (ie: find ^\W*< replace with <).

Amazing how many k that "empty" space takes up over time, hehe.

Also IMHO if you're using the exact same recip tables on all your free sites (esp. if the sites are otherwise text light) then you're heading into the dangerous near-duplicate content zone.
