Wow it is expensive to heat your home.

My electric runs around $300 a month in the hot months and around $180 in the cool months. The only other utility bill I have is my water/waste bill which runs around $85 a month.

I pay just under $2500 a year for home insurances. This is my homeowners plus the state's high risk pool for windstorm. I'm guessing this will go up yet again this year but I'm not crazy enough to go without it.

It was 5K to have the tree removed from my roof and the I spent about 85K remodeling my home but most of this was not due to the storm. I did get 6k from my windstorm insurance. I'll probably have my one remaining ficus tree trimmed way back before the next storm season now that I know they have very shallow roots and tend to fall on things.

Other then the inconvenience of the hurricanes they aren't that big of a deal unless something falls on your home since the houses in my area are built to withstand them without damage.

I've lived in south Florida since 1969 and last year I was in more hurricanes then all the years I've lived here so I am really hoping that things return to normal in the coming years.
