from my experience yahoo likes static pages that don't change a whole lot and the on page text is king

Not in my case... I have several blogs that are updated several times a week. They are currently on the first page of the SERPS.

I've got a bunch of pages that haven't changed for awhile and have no backlinks that yahoo eats up pretty good... I don't think that the never changing has anything to do with it, but the on-page seems to be what yahoo likes.... a good blog should pull tons of yahoo traffic

Changing must have something to do with yahoo ranking. I changed a site which wasnŽt modiied for along time and was no. 1 on yahoo for a sponsor keyword. After changing it, ranking was gone.

After all, IŽm not sure if there is dependence.

I just had the same thing happen to me... I think adding to pages is ok but changing existing text and stuff around a little bit seems to kill your rankings

I agree. Unfortunately my site (just a gallery of nastydollars) brought at least one signup per day. So never change a running system...

IŽll never touch those sites again. Better build a new one.

for yahoo yeah using good on page text optimization seems to be the key

for google backlinks seem to be what works best with "relevent" links being the best for example a site about apples linking to another site about apples is better than a site about apples linking to a site about oranges

same here... I didn't change much just added a banner and moved a few links around, didn't really even change the word density or anything and the listing fell off the face of the earth... I was thinking maybe yahoo flags sites when they change and waits awhile to put them back if they haven't changed drastically but I'm not holding my breath
