Barron,
the issue here is that there is only 1 domain registered in the reverse lookup for an IP. whois.sc is one service that has access to all of the domain names, and has done a dns lookup, and has a true reverse lookup. So, yes, your method works, but wouldn't detect what 300 domains used a particular IP.
