Messner also had a number of run-ins with Ocean City officials. Most notably, he put a sign for his business with the tagline “Where Wives Get Naked,” on his then office at the foot of the Route 90 Bridge. The sign was taken down and replaced with one urging people not to jaywalk.

The website exploded when Messner and his wife, Cherie, received national exposure after then Snow Hill Mayor Craig Johnson allowed her to pose naked on his police cruiser.
