I came to think of one thing today. What are people selling on your free sites and why?

Are you selling the tour or a join?

Not the perfect explaination, but this is what I meant: Like the first one is basically just making them get off your site and let the tour do the selling. The second one is to actually sell the site, so you can almost send them directly to the join page.

And why are you doing the way you are doing it?

Im selling live video chat. Free in fact for non adult. We dont have a tour or anything. You just come to the site and start chatting with a girl/guy who is online. I guess you can say we are selling dreams that will never happen. But then again who knows. I met my wife on a cam site and 4 years later lol she is my wife lol so maybe I'm selling a possible dating service. lol.
We offer the free video and chat cause thats the easiest way to get customers, but it kind of sucks cause you also get tons of beggers. Hey baby show tit. you nice show tit. you like leg? show tit. all the while the girl knows this dope will never pay. just a pain but it does work.

I'm selling mostly the tour, at least that's what I think I'm doing. My job is to get the surfer to the tour page, after that it's the sponsor's job to reel him in.

Ok, I sell surfers on a reason to hit the tour. All I try to do is get them to click to the sponsor. I choose sponsors that I feel can convert a surfer.

I explain to the surfer that they will be going to a membership tour. I give them reasons why it's better to join, I tell them it's secure, safe and guarantee them a good experience.

I recently purchased a few books on marketing and sales. It's amazing to see how just a few simple changes can really improve your sales. Stuff, like 'power advertising words', or 'color schemes' or 'learning how to dispell any negative thoughts by pointing them out to your surfer'.. (most people just ignore the negatives.)

So what do I sell? I sell digital pussy. I'm a digital pimp. I sell them on a reason to click.

It would be nice if selling the tour worked well enough, but you can't count on most tours closing the sale.

Hey its ok it never bothers me about comments like this. In fact I often wonder when we go out with friends how many of them went to her shows. LOL I know their wives look at my wife differantly, like she's a slut or something but fact is I just laugh it off. My wife sell bullshit to people. She never leads them to think she will met them or that they have a chance of meeting her. She tells them she is married. But this guys I don't understand. They will send her money just because. In fact the other day she had some guy offer to send her 8k a month for her to control him. LOL. I said to her sure tell him to send the money and you will control his life over the net. I don't really see my free sites as "selling" anything, I'm filtering traffic. If I'm doing it right, I'm presenting enough of a sample to get surfers to want more and go visit sites they're most likely to join.

I'm with RedShoe.

There's only so much you can do on a free site and the sponsor tour has no limits. So I think it's easier to just get them off to the tour and let the tour do it's job, but of course let them know where they're going, why and that it's not free.

But I've seen people with all kinds of different approaches and many with just randomness. When I was reading some marketing and copywriting articles today I got curious why other do it the way they're doing it

My opinion (like anybody cares) is that I am doing a combination of both approaches :
I want them off of my site as quickly as possible but I want them already excited to the point that they will whip out the credit card in the other hand with a final "close" by the tour of the sponsor.
Thats why it is so damned important to match your galleries or free sites to the sponsors tour - so that it is a natural flow.
It is equally important to know how well the tour will convert (close the sale) so it is always in your best interest to not only look at the marketing materials provided by the sponsor, but look at the tour itself - are their leaks which would turn a surfers head to a different direction that you wont get paid for? Or is it a direct path to the bang - you want it right now and you can have it RIGHT HERE!
Many sponsors out there (especially on the newer reality sites) have episode after episode with free trailers galore that will distract the surfer long enough to never have to join the site - my advice is always "get them horny, get them ready, direct them to the nearest final stop for one more extra tease and then to the join as quickly as you can. And if they dont buy, make sure the sponsor doesnt sell them something that you dont get a cut of

I've noticed that when I create galleries that get the surfer to the site quickly my ratios go down a huge amount but more sales are made. Since I don't give a damn about ratios and I'm only concerned about dollars it works for me. Of course if I was concerned about ratios I'd get better numbers and less dollars with another approach.

I'm not saying send CJ and totally blind traffic. The surfer clicks on something that he wants although he doesn't always know he's going to the pay site.

Swedguy, go get "Little Red Book of Selling" by Jeffery Gitomer. There are bigger books with more fluff, but this little book gets right to the point of it's principles.

I especially relate to principle #8.

I wouldn't phrase it that harshly, but yes, I am trying to get them to the tour. I feel it's my job to tease them a bit, give them something that they like to look at & then tell them where they can find more of it.

I remember years ago a guy that had killer conversions on his galleries, and high chargebacks.

If he were advertising today, his gallery/freesite might say something like:

See Britney take it up the ass with a baseball bat -- video inside -- so new, they haven't even updated the tour!

or

EXCLUSIVE Paris Hilton Video! Watch as she gobbles down 12 guys and while every hole is filled. You won't see this in the tour! Just released today!

Then there was this other guy -- $35 PPS. On his galleries he would put a form saying: Send me your signup receipt proving that you signed up and send me your address and I'll send you $10. You pay $3.95, I send you $10. I'm Paying you to buy porn! If you cancel before the end of the trial, you make money!

When I started I linked to tours, I saw the same number of clicks then as I do now from my server to the target. he sales sucked, and I mean really sucked so I changed things a little.

Now I send my free site traffic to landing pages, (fuck knows what the industry term is I call em landing pages) in the main I do this for a two reasons.

1) Search engines, good the SE's seem to love the LL's and text is better then code

2) I wanted to see what the traffic was doing

So now the surfer hits the LL > FS > LP then Join Page, no leaks no nothing just straight for the close. It works and its really boosted my figures.

Along side this I also sell a product on every page this normally brings in two sales per free site, now I make $100 per sale so its a nice value add. It peaks and drifts though the average is 1 product sale per site. (the sponsor got HAMMERED on here for spamming though thats good for mecoz no else seems to be using them ;-) )

What I would like to know is if anyone has an 'Leave Now Link' and a programmeto make revenue from it. I dropped it though would like to have one that was productive.

That is definately one of the best free sites I've seen so far and I'll be learning by example!

I see that you have 5 links to your landing page on the main page.
This does not count to the max 3 links rule, cos they are not outgoing links, right?
